I bought a '83 cc11 has any had any experience with this guitar? just wondering it is in very good shape. Thinking about having a pick-up added any suggestions?

Check out other prices of acoustic electrics before you add the preamp. You might not want to invest more than you would spend on another guitar with the preamp already in it.
How much will you play plugged in. I got a soundhole pickup cheap, but I never use it because I don't have a need for amplified acoustic playing.

Welcome. Just hang around here, soon you will get GAS, and end up with more guitars than anyone should rightly have. :D I started with a $100.00 Applause and was perfectly happy, then I found this site......and the rest, as they say, is history.
Like Mark said, before you start dumping $$ into a celeb., take a look around here in the sell/trade section or on Ebay. You can find a US made O with electronics, usually at a real reasonable price.

Actually, if you aren't too picky (pardon the intended humour), you can put one in yourself for about $30.00. I've done several, and it's not that hard. Fiddling with the action gets a bit tedious, though.
Now, if it HAS to be Ovation NOS, that's a different consideration, altogether. But still, a relatively easy installation.
