| Sadness, regret, bitterness, or any of those understandable emotions aside, has anyone played a non-USA 1778T or 2078T?
If so, how do the non-USA compare in regard to playability and sound?

Maybe they never will... This all might have been a marketing ploy! :p
But, will they have solid tops? I used to have a Korean Balladeer with a solid top and it was Nice.
(one of those "Why Did I Sell That" guitars)
I heard that some people like the Ultras, so...

Location: Sydney, Australia | I think that what will happen with the Korea/China thing will depend on which way they go. Either they will make them with inferior (cheaper) components, in which case they will remain poor cousins to the US models, or they will make the elites with the same materials as currently.
If they go the latter route there will be a period of spotty quality, with some good ones and some not-so-good ones. Eventually, they will probably produce some good quality product. Remember when "Made in Japan" was synonymous with "Piece of Crap"? |

Unfortunately, I'm broke now... I just bought a Crate Taxi amp just minutes ago, and all them T's...

Location: Phoenix AZ | As long as they use the same materials then I would think the koorean elites and balladeers should be equal to the USA ones. Celebrities suck because of what they're made OF, not because of how they are made. Ovation has 25 + years experience building guitars in korea. I would also expect the quality control to be quite good compared to US standards. My forey into Takamine guitars has taught me one thing - it doesn't matter at all where it is made. What counts is the design, the materials, and how it's put together. If building elites and balladeers in korea allows them to sell at a lower price and get put into more hands than that's a good thing for Ovation.

Location: UK | I had a 4861-5 Standard Balladeer [1989] which really belongs to an earlier threat of; guitars I regret selling.
Made in Korea but a really great little guitar - oh why, oh why did I sell it?
All down to materials and quality control I suppose - get them right and you get a good instrument no matter where it is made. Hope this is not too sacrilegious but I am a Brit and apart from luthier built we hardly have a thriving home industry. |

| I just discovered that I was mistaken about the availability of foreign born 2078Ts. It seems that they won't be available until later this year or early 2009. |
