I see various references here to 'The Mothership', which I figure is Kaman headquarters in Ct?

If you had a guitar which you want to send there for refurbishing, how does that work? Ball park price structure? Time frame for repairs, etc.?

Any help would be appreciated, based on your experience, or point me in the direction of help.

Thanks.

Gary

Gary,
You are correct about "The Mothership" refering to the New Hartford plant of Ovation.

First contact John Budny or Kim Keller at
xxx-xxx-xxxx. John is extention xx
or E-mail: xxxx@xxxx.xxx
Cost will obviously depend on what you are having done. Based ON MY EXPERIENCE, the cost is extrememely fair for the quality work they do.
Time frame will also depend on what is being done. I would say figure 2-5 week not including shipping time, again, depending on what is done. Good Luck. you won't be disappointed!! :)

BT717, while I understand that you were trying to be helpful, you need to read Mile's post in the announcements section about not posting personal contact information of Kaman employees in a public forum.

I don't visit the announcement page very often.
Here it is.................

Hello Everyone,
If you see a message that contains the "Message edited by: Mr. Ovation," line, it is mostly likely because that message contained an email address or phone number of Ovation.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not post contact information for Ovation support.. Don't forget, you are on the Internet and anything you post goes out the world. Conservatively speaking 5000 people each month see that information and around 100 new people each month see that information.
If you have the need, a more appropriate tactic might be that if you have acquired that information, send a note and ASK the person whos contact info you have if you may pass it along PRIVATELY to someone in need.

Besides, giving out emails and phone numbers of people without their permission... just isn't cool, and we know we all want to be cool

Thanks

Oh Boy, My appoligies to the Administrator's of this Board and specifically to Mr Ovation as I know they put in a lot of Time and effort to make this site run smoothy. I have to admit as Slip Kid say, I don't visit that page very often either. I will make sure I DON'T do that again and WILL go into the Anouncement section more often. Thank-you Paul for the "heads up" and "SlipKid" for the Official Post.

Good points made by all. Relevant to the original question, I have had total rebuilds on 2 critters, involving top & bowl (they are replaced as-a-unit), each running about $450.00. And, worth every penny. Consult the thread in the sale section for "A-braced Pacemaker".
After The Wizards re-did an 1127 Glen Campbell Signature for me, round-trip about 10 weeks, as I recall, I named it "Connolly", after the female character in "As Good As It Gets", as in, "You make me want to be a better guitarist."
The set-ups for playing ease that The MotherShip consistently produces is just-short of magical.
Just send it in. You won't regret it. And, the best customer service, ever, bar-none.

Also, comparing prices for a Mother-Ship Trip vs. My Local Guitar Shop... The Folks in CT were less expensive.
Plus they have a whole factory full of tools and parts (which is convenient).
Not that your local Luthier is not competent or well-meaning...
But nothing can compare to that kind of access to parts and tools, and Familiarity with the Product!

I have a different outlook on the publishing of relative commercial email addresses and phone numbers on this site. These are not personal data! Corporations $pend extra to have this info available to all.

So why ban such postings? If anything, one would think that it would be encouraged by the agents of commercial enterprises.

Just my ...

Here's the link to the Customer Support page of the Ovation public website which contains email address and phone number. This is completely public information.

I dont' disagree, but not if it goes against a direct request from the site administators. Have a little respect for their wishes. It's their playground, they make the rules, and we wouldn't like them to take the ball away.

Temp's right. I'm more than happy to tease Miles and Al unmercifully, but if they make a serious request regarding the board, I do my best to follow it. The rules are few and far between, but it's their sandlot and I'm just happy to be here.....

I like many others here rarely go to the Announcement forum. Keep in mind this directive was posted July 1st. If it was such a big deal then post a 'heads up' in the General forum!

Just because I post a valid opposing point does not mean I don't respect their decisions. Maybe there were other issues that prompted the directive. But in the case that prompted the admins response, in light of my post, what's the issue?

Miles and Al have caught some shiite from the blind side and aired the issues. This particular issue has a new and unexplained root cause(s). So you're saying I don't respect their decisions because I logically question it?

I have the highest esteem and respect for the founders and keepers of this site; otherwise I wouldn't be here. What I don't appreciate nor respect is 'puppy tail wagging and yapping' in the face of logic.

I just read moody's response and can not agree more. But again that does not mean that we shouldn't provide feedback regardless of the source or cause.

Don't know the "Root Cause" but I can guess...

You get a program that searches for that little "@" symbol, then saves the addresses.
Next thing you know you are getting requests...
Like that poor dude who is Dying in England, and wants me to help him give away seven million pounds...
(British Sterling, not marijuana) :p

I always just PM it to any new folks who are looking for repair help.
I figure all you Old Farts already got it in your email address book.

But you can always go through the Ovation main website, but John answers his mail Really early in the morning.

I am sure they do not want the Ovation Factory to end up getting a bunch of time consuming emails or even junk email because of an ad openly posted in here. Like they say, this is a world wide web we all use and business information is easily accessed. Just post the link to the address, not the actual addresses in here.
I think we all got it.... simple mistake......easy enough correction.... now kick back and enjoy the 4th!

It's all good.

Exactly. Those of us who have seen customer service at Ct know that it's a basically a 2-man operation at the front end (Kim & John) and a small shop with a handful of skilled guys dealing with the workload. We all know that that team is peerless in the industry, so lets not bung it up at the source with people who can't be bothered to Google "Ovation Customer Service"

So Gary, if you don't mind the inquiry, what instrument is the subject of your contemplation?

... no, instead these same 'unbothered people' that won't use Google will monitor the OFC to get the 'inside' addys to overload the MS server. Geeeez...

Day-um, get real! Those that bag your email are not coming here to 'steal' data to 'bung' the MS.

Part of that IT money that the MS $pend$ to get their ads and addys out there into cyber-space is also to used to dump your 'greatest fear'.

Brooklyn ,
Sorry to shag your thread. Just contact John or Kim at the MS and you'll be more than pleased with their outstanding cooperation!
