Yeah Dave it is a 1 7/8" W598 neck.

Speaking of ugly guitars.

I don't care how much the Adamas I-7 and Adamas 1-8 are worth, they should never leave the confines of your living room.

You couldn't pay me enough money to play one of those 1973 Ford Pinto Blue eyesores in public, unless I was forming a Neil Diamond tribute band.

Avocado Green would be a better look than that faded Powder Blue.

i don't know why you guys call it so ugly.
i'd take this one rather than any blue / green top guitar.
I'd repaint the bridge and it'd be ok.

Dan, don't get all bent out of shape. I probably shouldn't have insulted your view of a great guitar. Different strokes and all that. And I have no doubt that the guitar SOUNDS greats. There are plenty of people here who have indicated that they like the look of the guitar.

If you're going to do something radical to the appearance of a guitar, accept the fact that some will like it and some won't. And that feelings will run strong both ways.....

Hey Guys, can we please go back and re-read this thread and ask oursewlves what the hell are we doing? And I'll throw myself right in the guilty mix. It's not my job to police this place, but this is just wrong. A long standing member wants to sell his guitar. If you don't like the looks of it, then don't buy the fucking guitar, OK? Everybody has a personal opinion, and that's just fine. But to post disparaging comments in someone else's for-sale thread is extremely rude and poor taste. It's different if someone posts "hey, what do you thinik of this?" That's fair game, bring on the opinions. But dragging this for-sale thread into the mud is pretty damn childish. And to turn it into a tit-for-tat, well if you think my guitar is ugly, I think your guitar is twice is ugly... Jesus, how old are we. I'm not real proud of us.

I apologize.

I was wrong to respond to the comments.

Dan, there's nothing to apologize for. You and I didn't call each other mass murderers or impugned each other's characters. We just disagree on guitars. Heck, that's what makes this forum fun. Don't pay attention to the thought police who are trying to make nice. If you really don't like the standard colors of the Adamii, well, that's a whole discussion unto itself and we should start a thread on it.

I've always believed that I don't demand that you love my guitars the way I love them. I hope, tho', that you love YOUR guitars the way I love mine.

And ignore the thought police, Dave, John, and Bill. They are mass murderers......

It doesn't really matter what any of us think-- what's important is that we wish Dan the very best with both the surgery and the sale; that's what matters most. I know it would be very hard for me to part with even one of my guitars, and if it were one like this one, it would be harder, because I'd know I'd probably never be able to replace it.
So Dan, for whatever it's worth, please accept my best wishes that everything will go smoothly in the days ahead, and I'll be praying for you, too.

Well said Karen! Good luck with the sale.

Dan, pay no attention to the thought police, the price police and the smart asses.

Or does that eliminate everyone on the board?

Dan, I'm sorry for the circumstances dictating this sale. I hope all goes well and your recovery is a speedy one.

I'm not a big 12er fan but if I were however, I would be interested in this one. I really like the look. It has a certain understated class.

Dan, I hope everything works out for you as well. And I truly believe everyone here does too. It's a family - apparently disfunctional at times but a family nonetheless. And I wish you a good sale.

(Paul - As far as being part of the "thought police" contingent, I've hardly laughed so hard in all my tenure here. Good God. Could you imagine the state of affairs that could warrant that...? Then I thought about your place on the "style police" contingent... )

Thank you for all the kind words.

I was going for the understated look but the only option the factory gave me at the time was to stain the epaulets and bridge as dark as they could, rather than spray them black.

They did a great job with the budget I had and did a lot of work for great price.

I'm not a collector so thankfully I don't really get emotionally attached to any one of the guitars I've owned over the past 20 years.

I'm kind of wierd in that I play only 12 strings.

I've bought and sold too many to remember, and in the process have learned what tops, preamps and bowls sound and play the best in a live amplified setting, with the acoustic unplugged sound being secondary.

I do know for a fact that every Ovation 12 string I've owned has had more than enough projection to fill a small coffeehouse, classroom, living room or church unplugged.
