It looks like he was bidding against himself and this cost him $112. Can someone explain this to me?

Once he met the reserve price of $1,050, he probably increased his bid 2 more times in case someone sniped it with a higher bid at the last second. Since no one bid higher than the reserve price, the amounts of his additional bids would only show as the lowest amount necessary to win the auction. Hope this helps. Jack

I've been trying to help a friend buy an Ovation and had contacted Paul about the Collector Series he had just sold. He offered his help finding one. He has explained differences in the models, what questions to ask, and answered a lot of my questions. Truly appreciated. Jack

(If there was a reserve on it) If the guitar had a $1000.00 reserve and you bid $1000.00 then the reserve would have been met. If you again subsequently bid $1100.00 for instance, it would not push up your own bid any further - Some other person would have to come in at over $1100.00 to beat you ! I had a little computer trouble which prevented me from placing a bid, but it was on the limit of what I was going to bid myself if I had had the chance. It's a great instrument Brittany, hope you got what you expected for it - sorry I was unable to have a go myself. Everyone in U.S. must be up against it when there is around $2.12 to the English Pound !
