Location: Cincinnati | there's a 1718 on eBay that looks pretty nice. most of the threads I found here were several years old. is this still considered to be a desirable guitar? and if so, what price range should it be in? thanks

Location: Chehalis, Washington | Very nice guitar. REAL close second to the vaunted 1537's...basically the standard production model of the same guitar. Might be on the upper end price wise, but anything that sounds that nice for under $1K is a deal IMHO. |

Location: SoCal | I have a 1991 prototype (Garris) of the thin line p/u. Plainer epaulets than the eBay offering (which I like). I agree, it is a close second if not equal to the 1537. Gets more play than my pre-production 1537.
Great player. $1K would be very reasonable. |

Location: Phoenix AZ | I think the main non-cosmetic difference is that the 1718's don't have the canted ply-birch soundboard reinforcement. And of course the electronics are different. Dave |

Location: Cincinnati | the seller, who is not the original owner, states that it has low action, but doesn't know if any shims have been removed. should I be concerned about this. thanks.

Location: Boise, Idaho | You should be concerned if it has high action and the shims have been removed. Saying it has low action isn't very specific. If you are concerned, maybe you should email him and ask him to measure the action on each E string at the 12th fret. You could compare that to the specs on the Ovation website. |

Location: Cincinnati | he said it's 5/64" at bass E string and 4/64" at the treble E string. the only thing i could find on the Ovation website was in the Owner's Manual. it said the action should be 4/64" at the bass E and 6/64" at the treble E string. is this a problem? thanks.

Location: Boise, Idaho | I think his measurements are what Ovation says the minimum is supposed to be, so it is consistent with his statement that it has low action. The pics look good. It may be one to go for. Make your move, Jack. |

It was so easy, you better start looking for your next Ovation right away. Don't believe anyone who says you only need one or this is the last one. Those people have no soul. |

Location: NW NJ | I'm with Tony. I have a 1718 and a 1758. My wife calls them "the twins". Sweet, sweet player and sounder. I had it at the O tour a couple of years ago. Everyone who touched it loved it.. you'll love it too! :)
