Location: North Carolina | . . . a lot of things, but specifically I'm interested in uploading some of my older live performance videos to the computer so I can ultimately post them to You Tube, a website, etc.
Obviously I'd have to run the VCR output into the input of the computer, but what software do I need? Thanks. |

Location: big island | you need an analog to digital converter first. a no frills easy to use one is by ADS, called DVD Express. got mine from walmart three years ago, cost about $55.00. much cheaper now on eBay.
you also need video editing software which you may already have if you are running windows xp or a mac OS.
a very decent and inexpensive media maker software is roxio's easy media creator 9 or later. contains no-brainer audio and video conversion software. |

Location: big island | some digital camcorders can capture analog signals from vcr's which eliminates the need for a converter as the camera functions as the converter.
another option, but one that diminishes quality is to digitally film your vcr playback either on a tv screen or optimally using a video projector and film screen, if you have those.
you may also have a computer that contains a video card capable of connecting directly to your vcr via rca plugs and/or s-video. the s-video is strictly for video and does not carry audio signals so you would need to run the audio from the vcr directly. |
