The latest creation from the more-guts-than-brains ShadeTree Luthier laboratory. It started life as an Applesauce 3/4-size. Well, so much for that incarnation, anyway:

Well, Deev, not quite yet. I need to tweak a few things, and let all the parts settle in awhile. Actually, it has good intonation. It's somewhat akin to a "leap-of-faith" when cutting out the top, setting the cone, and gluing the whole mess together. Pretty easy to get the geometry "out of kilter".
I may attempt to amplify the critter, too. I have a couple of preamps laying around, and may trundle myself down to the local Radio Shack for a couple of piezo sensors.

Cool, just wondering why you posted it in For Sale. Good luck with that Radio Shack, the ones around here are closing left and right!

They couldn't live up to their "We Have Answers" ad line. They had answers, but most were wrong and expensive!

Now it's a cell phone plan outlet!

Y'know, James, I was curious myself. Looking at the piece, and it's relative age, I think it's WAY older than that. Actually, I had to paste on an expansion ring, so it was wide enough to span the soundwell, and still attach to the top. I'm thinking it was made for a cone less than the 9 1/2" one that I used. That would be unusual, indeed.
As for the Radio Shack thing, I agree. You don't get highly-trained & talented clerks for minimum wage. I never ask them for any technical advice, only, "Do you have this little gizmo in stock?" That's "stretching-the-edge-of-the-envelope" for most of those youngsters.

Went to rad shack looking for a few torroidal coils. The sales clerk was useless. I ended up finding them myself in a drawer in their store.

The Radio Shack is useless for knowledge beyond the latest cell phone rates. Fortuneatly I get to bring my Mouser catalog over to the "Mobile Radio" guys, either of which could retire any day, and get some old school education when needed.

Thanks, Cliff. Remember, yer talkin' to a Bottomfeeder here. Temp is in a whole different atmosphere than my indian-riding-the-buffalo operation. Perhaps he may have some sage advice for me, notwithstanding.

So... if I just happened to have a Deep F/G bowl wideneck with a concave top...

What style and or setup of Hubcap, er, Resonator parts should I use to make and assemble.

Well, traditionally, biscuit-bridge for verticals, and spiders for horizontals.
There's a guy in Canada selling kits for about $75.00 USD, either type.
The trick is getting the scale & saddle-break right.
You're going to have to put a soundwell into the top, so that may fix the concavity issue, anyway.
I take it, the wideneck is a 12-fretter? Sweet....

That would be this Golden Buiscut Kit from Bezdez

I have gotten a lot of affordable MiC stuff from them. I have two Folklores - one with twisted neck and the other with a sunken top.

It might be time to go Hubcapping Reso!

I constructed a gizmo for untwisting necks. Takes about a month.
Actually, the sunken top is not a terminal issue. You just need to calculate for the drop, when installing the soundwell.
With Ovations, I've found that putting a larger & deeper endblock into the bottom is pretty crucial, since you have to secure the tailpiece down there.
Wasn't there some lyric about fat-bottom girls.....

Could you send me a sketch of your neck untwister please? I did have a small setup using a work table, a 60 lb sandbag on the body and a 12" weight/lever untwisting the neck. Do you apply heat?

Careful what you ask for Jason - these guitars are like potato chips!

Very well. Sent it off to a gentleman in Virginia, who thought it was the best thing since sliced bread.
Another kudo for the BFLG!
