My interests keep changing so no favourites.

Been listening to Fred Eaglesmith a lot lately - 20 years ago I wouldn't have listened to stuff like that at all.

Who the f88k is Fred Eaglesmith?

And I don't believe anybody's name is Eaglesmith. How are people with the name Fartbucket supposed to compete?

He's from Ontario. Grew up on farms in the south west where they grow tobacco. Been around in music since the 80s AFAIK. He's about 50 or so. I think he's a good songwriter and his voice suits the stuff he writes.

You can get these songs on Limewire: Codeine; Carmelita; Water In Fuel; Alcohol and Pills; Tired; I shot Your Dog; John Deer.

I don't know for sure if his name really is Eaglesmith but I suspect it might be as he doesn't seem like someone who would make up a stage name for himself but you never know.

Well, I was wrong his real name is Fred Elgersma - we have some people with mixed aboriginal heritage and a name like Eaglesmith wouldn't be immediately suspect as having been made up.

With a name like Elgersma I can understand why he'd change it..lol

Washboard Hank was in my Grade 13 English class except he was called Howard Fisher then..lol

Him and Ken Ramsden started The Lost Followers and, after a good Thanksgiving Day bash, commenced their first cross Canada tour..lol

PS - Fred's voice sounds really good on his studio recordings - the live youtube stuff doesn't sound quite the same for whatever reason.

This is a bit closer:

Yeah Joe... I made the mistake of putting a clip on YouTube...
(I will not even give y'all a link)
But the sound doesn't sync to the video like it does on my computer, and the music don't sound the same either.

BTW-- "Washboard Hank was in my Grade 13 English class..."
How long do they make y'all go to school in Canada?

I was in school for generations and I'm not sure if I wouldn't have just been better off fixing cars which is really what I'm good at..lol

Hank didn't play anything when I first met him - then he bought a Dobro and got good pretty fast.

Check out the link that I edited into my previous post - Alcohol and Pills. Seems like a good song to me - simple and to the point. I've listened to a lot of fancy music along the way but truth seems more important to me now that my past has been paved over and urbanized ..lol

Until I get two 'Cs' in a row.
ALMOST nailed it last year!

They give me a certificate of attendance every year,
as a consolation prize.
