Right on TJ.
He had it listed a couple of times before he sold it.
I had a bid on it at one stage.
I think he sold it for around $900

If by a couple of times you mean it was listed alternating between 30 day store listings and auctions for nearly 4 months before it sold, then yes... it was listed a couple of times.

It will be interesting to see if it goes off "craigslist." The topic of craigslist vs ebay has come up before, and from what I have seen it's VERY regional.

Around here FreeCycle and Craigslist is VERY popular and those who have used either don't even consider eBay. It's not an "anti-ebay" thing either.... they just don't think of it. I found that interesting.

Is your local freecycle group allowing sales of items?.... according to it's founder and their rules of operation, that's a big bozo nono and could lose them their 501c3 status..

our groups here, that my wife founded in Brevard.
are now independent of the .org, and TFN, and she used to work as his database administrator for the network, and was the worldwide new group approver for TFN, and also the GOA (Group outreach assistant/administrator) wrote most of the mod manual, and FAQs, and NGA(New group approver) and State mod, for the state of FL.

and we just won a major court case against Deron Beal, TFNs founder in the 9th circuit court due to his naked licensing of the entire concept, which he gave to the world in 2003, and then tried to copyright, and trademark it after he had given it away freely. but then found out he could line his pockets with about half a mil in grants, donations, sponsorships, and endowments since then, and tried and is trying to take back.

He'll also probably soon be losing his TM application as well for the same reason.

and Miles, I can appreciate yours and Al's frustration with moderating a group of over 6300 members worldwide here, in our case though, we have about that same number in our groups here locally and in our backyard... who all recognize us on the street, know us by name, and call us repeatedly with every little tiff that occurs between them and other members..

our Brevard Freecycle Homepages and history and press...

my mouse cursor has many a time hovered over the delete group command....many times, and have even gotten so far as to clicking that, and the "are you sure" query comes up.

just couldn't do it to the community here that has grown to what it is.... but it is sometimes a little more than frustrating dealing with adults, who do not know how to act like adults...

I'm very sure you understand how it can feel some days and seeing what's in your e-mail box or on the board, or on your answering machine....

Glenn,

I admire your assistance with the FC. Just this afternoon I gave away two nice 8' wide vertical blinds to a VERY appreciative couple via FC.

It can be a real pain in the azz to try and help others. No-shows, "can you deliver, I have bingo this PM", "we just retired from (name a state) and I want a complete bedroom set with drapes" and so on causes me to sit out at times. But then there's that foster mother that's so glad you're there with a needed item or an older couple that could use some citrus that pulls me back to the FC.

BTW, the above quotes are real!

You situation must be challenging! I salute you!

Now back to our regular programming...

thanks iffy, also check out the guitar in the logo of freecycle.org that they are trying to TM... that, the Ravie font, and the bicycle are actually copyrighted works of another company NVtech, and microsoft who licensed them from NVtech for personal use for people using MS products and are not permitted for use in any way for any commercial purposes.. another reason he probably won't get his TM.

but it does kinda look like a sunburst O classical don't ya think?

Our FreeCycle is free as it should be. They keep a close eye on it, and resend the "rules" often.
