Take a look for yourself and see if it is true.

Standingovation, PI?

If its for real and someone wants to play Banker I'll kick in $100. Then we can send it around with "The Book" or something so that all can share it like the WRB!

GC on Ebay to benefit a family that just lost their Daughter.

We all have tragedies....

My daughter was hit by a drunk driver 12 years ago while she was walking (she was 19) and is permanently disabled.

5 years later my wife was also hit by a motorist while walking (had most of her bones broken and not expected to live) and is permanently disabled.

My first grand-daughter recently died from SIDS.

Many OFC members have suffered numerous tragedies over the years but we choose not to "advertise" or "profit" from our problems.

Not saying this is the case but I see all too many scams and lawsuits where someone tries to turn tragedy into financial gain.

Woody, I know you are a good man and try to do the right thing but I guess I just get tired of this kind of stuff.

There are enough OFC family members that could use your generosity and efforts without collecting for strangers whose stories may or may not be true.

Fellow OFCers can bitch at what I just said all they want but it won't change my opinion of what I just said or how I feel.

I have given to help on the OFC and give my true fair share in the community...notice that this seller isn't donating his guitar.

Proceeds are after he gets his $400.

wishes he could donate it all but he says he's not wealthy....yet he is auctioning off almost $7,000 worth of other instruments with no mention of this "tragedy".

Guys and gals...the seller may have the best of intentions. However, if you wanted to help, wouldn't it be better just to send a donation directly and let the seller get whatever the guitar will sell for?

By the way, where are the books?

Excellent point! Send your donations to the newspaper. They'll forward them to the parents and get good PR for doing so.

I shot this out there on a spurious impulse.
Stephen - I don't disagree with your reasoning and opinion. I am also sorry to hear of the events.

I'll get with the "Banker" and take a course of action.

28's & byC's comments are well taken...makes me wonder whether our charity might be better directed directly via the newspaper, or ?

I had similar qualms. We see calls for donations all the time, but they usually set up a trust account at a bank. I suspect banks do that for free and I would feel much better donating to an account that I could trust.
