Just bought my first Ovation yesterday. It's really a sweet guitar, but I'm trying to find some info on it. It has a white sticker inside with black ink, noting Model 1113-4, serial number E-861. I've done some research online, and the serial number has be confused...I can't find a three digit number preceded by the letter E. The seller said it was a 68, but I'm not sure. It's definitely a shiny back. I also wonder if Ovation was producing cases specific to the round backs that early. Finally, I've seen early bridges that are rounded at the side with two parallel stripes. Mine is squared at the sides, no inlay. Maybe a replacement?
Thanks!

That's an early label, or more correctly, a later early label.

Take a look through here

Interesting. My label is pretty faded, but it does look like the second series label. Though all those labels had the model number printed, while mine is numerical.
Any thoughts about the letter preceding the serial number? This seems incongruent with the dating info I have found...

A 1113 is a nylon string Classic, how odd.
Is your a steel string?
I wonder if the lable is faded enough that the E in the serial number is actually an F or something.
Somebody will chime in, be patient...
You really should post some pictures of the guitar and it's label.

As far as cases go, my Dad's 68 Deluxe Balladeer bought new by my parents has hideous orange velvet inside and though not contoured like the new cases, definately has some contour in it to hold the guitar.
