Got a question. I'm not trying to be a smart ass, but, just very curious. How much difference is there in tone between a 1500-2000 dollar guitar and one that sells for 8-10 grand?

diminishing returns but there is a difference and for some, it is worth the extra money.

I agree with Stephen. It is a matter of diminishing returns. Once past a certain amount, say $2,000 for acoustics and $1,500 for electrics just to make a point, it becomes a matter of diminshing returns where an increasing amount of investment provides a decreasingly smaller gain in value, whether it be in tone, feel, playability, durability, materials, craftsmanship, appearance, rarity, etc. It is a matter of what we "want", not what we "need." Value means different things to different people. A good example on the electric side is a Fender Strat. An off the wall USA Strat will easily handle the needs of 95% of today's electric players, and can be had for maybe $700 for something slightly used. Nonetheless, that doesn't stop us from paying three to ten times that amount for one-off customs or limited run models that appeal to our personal sense of value.

...and that's not taking into account of the 'turn-around time'...and you're still taking notes...
