Are you saying this Balladeer has a ply top and aluminum neck? I thought all US Ovations had solid tops.

Location: Nova Scotia, Canada | My only experience with one of these is playing a second-hand one in a music store in Ottawa a couple of years back. Even allowing for the old strings, it was a dog soncally, although it played well. |

Yes, The Matrix, Balladeer Special, Ultra and several Collectors Editions had laminated tops.
The Balladeer Special was basically an upgraded Matrix, which became the short-lived US-produced Ultra. They all had aluminum/foam necks with a refrettable rosewood fingerboard. |
