Everything about this guitar looks fairly basic. What's the deal? I'm very close to purchasing a C2078 LX custom elite and I'm looking around to see if there is any reason to get anything else. I really like the 2001 collectors with Redwood but will probably go for the custom elite. Thanks in adavance.

It has the OP Studio and a contour bowl and better wood... (if price is Not an issue, I would still get the Custom Elite) JMPO :p [And I'd get the Red Tear Drop if I had the choice]

If you put a master grade top on I'll consider it worthy of paying a premium. Really cool inlays help too. AA sitka is a yawner. What is so "collector" about this guitar? Or, more specifically, what is worthy of paying a premium? Not trying to dis anyone on this but I don't get it. It's a tough economy and I'm concerned what my hard earned dollars are getting me.

Alot of the "State of the Art" doodads that they might put on a Collector's become standard equipment a coupla years later. The contour-bowl and the OP-Pro come quickly to mind...

Back in my Navy days I lived in Port Orchard while we were in drydock. I like those flashbacks. Brings back good memories. I really liked it there.

It's one of my favourite 2 collectors, the other being the 07. Just to give you some idea of what you can pick them up for if you're lucky, I got mine for £327 (around $650 at the time) and it's ****MINT****! Also I would take the AA top thing with a pinch of salt, I would rate it as a AAA+, it's gorgeous!
