I bought this one thinking it was a salvage project, and it turned out that the body and neck are in incredible condition, and it just needed an overhaul. The whole guitar has been cleaned out and redone, thanks to several hours of cleaning, waxing, and a full NOS electronics set courtesy of our own Gallerinski. The neck is one of the earlier models with the 1 11/16" nut, which is unbelievably easy to play. I have long fingers but slender hands, and I struggled mightily for a long time with the a 1 7/8" 12-string necks finding a good comfortable zone. With this, no problem. The guitar is a 12-string Storm series, which should be marked as a Hurricane, but the label lists it as a Tornado instead, with some of the older serial number dating. Customer Service has no info on it, but John said to figure it was a '68 or early '69 model. The finish is gorgeous, and the overall condition is a good solid 9/10. It's got a couple little nicks and dings, most notable in the body behind the bolt-on neck. I just had a setup done, and it plays amazing. Everything you'd want in a great, fast Ovation electric neck, with double the strings. I ran it today for a while through my Fender Blues Junior, using a Boss Chorus and a MXR Comp/Sus, and the guitar has an absolutely crazy array of tonal possibilities. The guitar is in it's original case, which is structurally sound and fairly clean but the latches are pretty old and funky. It holds the guitar okay, but if you were going to do serious road-work I'd suggest getting a new case. I'm really not sold on parting with this, but bought it mostly to try and it's my only "swappable" guitar in the stable at this point, so if I end up with a GAS attack I'm in trouble anyway (curse you Woody! ) Asking $1200 shipped in the US, or make me an offer. I will consider trades, though these days I'm pretty much down to being interested in the really unusual stuff, so if you find yourself with a UTE or FD14 you don't need... :D Pics in my ning album HERE! ![]()

Actually yes, which is why I'm in indecision mode. I'd love to keep it, as I'd love to have kept 20 or 30 other guitars that I've reluctantly sacrificed to GAS over the past few years...

Joined: March 2006 Posts: 1634 Location: Chehalis, Washington | Tornado shipping out today. Iffy, I may feel the same way shortly. This 12-string archtop is definitely on my short list of the coolest guitars ever. One of these days, finances and SWMBO willing, I will put one back in the stable to stay.
