Hello all, there is a nice looking 1979 1119-4 on craigslist, in the Sacramento area, for $1,700 (ouch) that supposedly Guitar Center appraised at $3,000(double ouch, unless you have one yourself)! This seems awfully high--even though it is one of the rarer models before the abalone inlay. I rather like the clean lines, but the abalone is prettier.

It's not a "rare" early version of a 1619, it's an absolutely ordinary 1617 Legend.

I wonder how much she paid for the "appraisal"

I think appraisal's are going for around $20.00 per $1000.00. That would make this a $60.00 appraisal... :D

"I got it appraised at Guitar Center for $3000."

Maybe that's how much "Jenipfer"(?) paid to have it appraised...

Well, I'll be dammned, that is one goofed up girl! I was thinking it was a 1119 but you folks are the experts, I believe you all know more than anyone on the planet about Ovations. I wonder if I should post a rejoiner on craigslist--naw, no one is going to pay that for the guitar. If they do--oh well . . .

With the economy in the tank, I am trying not to buy any more Ovations, but it is sooo hard! You folks are the only ones who truly understand the addiction. My family thinks I'm nuts. I just tell them it is better than collecting expensive cars or keeping a boy/girl friend on the side.

GC Appraiser (GCA) – I appraise that at $3000.

Ovation Owner (OO) – How much would you buy it for?

GCA – Well, the best I can do is $750, minus the $60 appraisal fee, minus 10% of the appraisal ($300) to cover my medical insurance this month, minus 10% of the $300 ($30) to cover the new tax on my medical benefits, minus $360 for my tax preparer. I can save you from suffering the same process… So just give it to me and I won’t tell anyone!

OO – OK, here. Oh, how can I thank you enough?!?!?

You guys sure this isn't a 1651 Legend Ltd.?
The -7 Nutmeg leads me in that direction.

In any event, it's still a rather optimistic appraisal. :)

Ad says it's "stereo capable". I'd say it's a 1651

Is the 1651 the one from John Lennon's "Acoustic" CD? Looks like that Nutmeg finish.
