That belongs to Mike Fugot. He's been listing it now for about 2 months, each time with a bit lower BIN. It's also the ONLY 12-string 2080 in existence. Anyone jonesing for a 12-string O or A would do a heckuva lot worse than this guitar. That is a crazy low price for a custom Adamas, plus it's from someone you can trust completely.

ditto on what Serge said. That should be a great guitar for someone who uses a 12. That price is pretty inviting.

Every time I see this one, I cry. I own three (3!) 6-string 2080's, and want this one, but have to part with guitars now, not acquire them. I swear, the 2080 is like what I hear crack is like. when I sell two of them, I will feel SERIOUS withdrawal. And, yes, they ARE different from each other, but only subtly.

I am concerned with the VIP coloring the tone too much...any ideas about that? Can it be easily replaced with one of the other OP series?

OP studio would probably be the mainstream choice.

Is that just a simple drop in replacement?

The OP-Pro will just Drop-in to the can.

Everybody talks bad about the VIP...
While I might not have chosen that preamp, one came in my 07C.
There are five different setting to emulate five different mics...
(I have No Idea which setting goes with which mic)
But there is a slider to tailor how much mic emulation you use.
On the bottom end of the slider, it is straight pick-up, much like an OP-Pro without the preset.

But I have swapped the VIP into my 2078T before, and used an OP-Pro in the 07C.
Everything worked just Gravy.

As Arthur says, the Studio just drops into the same can as the VIP. If you decide to replace the VIP, definitely go with the Studio instead of the standard OpPro. The compressor and exciter functions of the Studio are really nice and worth the few extra $.

The VIP does what it advertises. I found that I have to adjust the EQ when using the images. For me, the images don't add to the utility of the guitar, so I put the Studio in my '07 Collector. But don't panic yet on the VIP, some folks really love the added character of the VIP images. If you decide to go for the Studio, call Al for the best price and service.

Does the studio also require a dummy plug to use the tuner?

Except for my baritone which Mike mentions in his ad listing.

A baritone 12-string 2080.

Are ya kidding? That alone would be worth the price of admission.

Handmade, nice buy. I can not imagine you being anything less that thrilled with what you just picked up.

Two different gitars. The 1681 is gorgeous and I love it. Deep, resonant, yhet still bright tone, with lots of volume. Its tone has its own character. beautiful from top to bottom. And it's hefty. Feels great to hold and play. The 2080 tends slightly more to the mid-range. Consistent tone all the way from top to bottom. More mellow and subdued when not booming. Both are boomers if you need them to be. I tend to do lots of soloing, and both are great for that as well. The 2080 starts out and stays mellower. The 1681 is brighter. Both are wonderful...and if forced to choose between them for my "desert island" guitar, I'd have to flip acoin.

Much looking forward to it! If it's at all like the 6ers, it's a BEAUTIFUL guitar!
