I had them replace the preamp in my '77 to the newer stack knob unit..it works great and looks stock...having a tone control is a big advantage over the volume alone...

Joined: September 2007 Posts: 108 | I' really like the sound I was getting from may pacemaker with the old electronics, although I do have to really push the bass, I just don't want to mess with the sound I'm used to, but thanks for the ideas. I thought it was fixed several times but no luck. I have another pacemaker with op pro, and swapped the saddle pick ups but definately its the pre amp. VERY mysterious though, I jiggle wires and tap the pre and get some cutting in and out but very intermittent. Wonder if its a capacitor or something electronic.Really dont think its solder. Still open to ideas.

I swapped the saddle pick-up with one I know works and it still is a problem , so its not the pick-up, but thanks for the suggestion. This is a rebuilt pacemaker with a A bracing top so I'm very emotionally invested in the sound, So Id really like the original pick up.
