So my question is, Do you think this was a worthwhile investment?

For Your Consideration...

So... I am kinda hoping I could get some price predictions on this one!
(Unless it stays under $333, I ain't bidding! )

HEY! I think that I see a boo-boo on the skunk-stripe!

I would expect it to go considerably over $333; even higher if it had been one of the a/e's.

I did some poking around to learn about this seller, and the little bit that I found was less than complimentary. Apparently they sell poor quality Chinese imports with very high shipping charges.

It doesn't mean that this Patriot isn't a great guitar or that it won't be as advertised. But it does make me cautious.

The Patriot is on the very short list of guitars that I'd like to get. I'm almost afraid to bid on this one, since it would get played.

Ah! But since he wants an exorbitant amount for shipping the price may stay Low.

After all, it is just a 33 year-old guitar without a preamp, and a cheezy sticker on it.

It might slide under the wire! Anything is possible...

$90 for shipping a guitar is not really high...especially if it is insured.

3-4 years ago $90 would have been crazy with normal pricing being in the $25-30 range but with the new rules about size vs weight (and almost always being the dim weight) shipping has gone up considerably.

Oh I understand Stephen. But these bidders see that some sellers are only charging $25...

They don't understand that those sellers were shipping for Free not too long ago.

(I do remember shipping a guitar cross-country for like, $24  )

And I think that it is gonna pass my $333 limit real soon!

Is there anything really special about the construction or sound of this model? I can see the appeal if you're trying to collect 'em all or if you're an "unabashed flag waver"...

You mean beyond the fact that it's a 33 year old A braced Legend, one of the best sounds Ovation ever produced?

No....

I agree Paulie...they are very choice! It will be interesting to see where this goes; most go in the $700 - $800 range...the retail in '76 was $700...

I'd be leary of his feedback on his "perfect conditon" items. No returns. Buyer beware.

It was previously reported that the Legend Ltd was produced with materials left over from the Patriot after the decals ran out.

Crap on a cracker, that's a little ridiculous. Well, I guess it's whatever the market will bear. I'll bet the seller is doing cartwheels about now.

Aren't those called "Nabs" down there in the south? :p

Seriously, I can't figure out the market at all right now! Did you see the 2003 Collector's that went for over $1300 recently? (And I can't get the same, or even an offer, on my Adamas 1881? Go figure? )

I guess I'll keep the one I've got. Sounds pretty good for having been played a bunch over the last 30 years.

No... But I saw a Flame T that went for $500 the other day. And a coupla/few $800 Adami.

(The reason why I just got TWO BC Rich Biches is cuz I bid $222 on one, $250 on another ...
I should have been outbid on both! Instead I won both! You Go figger? )

Gee Patch... That is a nice looking "Elite"...
it does have an OP-40.
But my 6778LX only cost a third of that.

Somebody must've had a sentimental thing going, or needed to complete a set.

To answer OMA's question: these sold for $700 retail in '76...a lot of money (why I couldn't afford a new one back then)and most today sell for nearly the same amount for a clean example...the rarer A/E's might bring a little more...
This sold for: $1001 and change for a $700 to $800 guitar...somebody really wanted it...mine is nearly as nice w/all the paperwork except my case is a bit beat on one end...and I paid $700...Investment? Well, I think the verdict is still out...for a Collector or someone looking for a great playing/sounding/looking Ovation, it is a great vintage piece to own IMHO...

I agree about his feedback...looks like mostly late shipping complaints and several misrepresented items...not much excuse for repeated error's there...but the No Returns is pretty standard...I do the same on the items I sell on eBay...but my feedback is perfect and I sell exactly as advertised...The bottom line is that I have items to sell on eBay and I am not a department store: look at the great pic's I provide of each item, read the detailed item descriptions, and if you want it, buy it. I don't want it back...shipping is too expensive. It works for me.
