aloha folks,
yesterday i learned and diddled with a new tuning called F Wahine (C-F-C-G-C-E low to high). the "wahine" designation simply means there is a 7th in the tuning and so it does not sound right without some sort of fretting going on. it sounds lost strummed open. anyway, it is a work in progress, but i have just uploaded a song on my page that i am calling, "ariana's lullabye", named for my three year old daughter. listen beyond the foibles and missed/wrong notes and please tell me what you think. i decided to try this song using my takamine EF75. this song is not practiced and i recorded it on the fly. after recording it, i strummed my ukulele along with the playback and i was well pleased with the sound. i will add the ukulele track to a cleaner version of the song when i have time. mahalo!

I can't Randy, coz the one you uploaded didn't have foibles and missed/wrong notes. (Well... I heard ONE! )

Your precision continues to annoy me. :D

Randy - just beautiful! Are you writing one for her sister as well?

Brad nailed it: sooooothing, is right.

When I play, you have to listen real hard so you can pick out the right notes! :)

Great showcase for the EF75! Thanks, I've been waiting patiently for you to do something more with that guitar, and I'm definately not dissappointed!

mahalo, guys.
i added a bit of chorus and reverb to the EF75's sound through the zoom pedal. that guitar records very nicely. i was able to achieve a nicer played back sound than i normally get because i was not using headphones this time. i monitored in real time through some behringer ms16 powered monitor speakers i got on the bay for $54 brand new. like slipkid, i'm startin' to get a good kick outta this home recording stuff...

Sounds great Randy, but that's no suprise comming from your fingers ! And yes the home recording thing is fun ( and time consuming, and addictive, and expensive, and frustrating, and rewarding, and etc., etc. )

thanks, mike and dave. i will soon have enough slack key tunes for an album. yup, album. i think i'll press it to vinyl. LP's are making a comeback and CD's are outta here. so it's digital downloads or LP's.

i'll bet the record companies are hyping the comeback of the LP behind the scenes. they've still got all that dinosaur equipment in storage and would still like to hedge the business...
