Location: Steeler Nation, Hudson Valley Contingent | Here's the next one on the block, with more to follow. And I have to say, this is one of THE BEST sounding Ovations I've ever played. I kid you not, the acoustic tone is superb!
The serial number dates from 1979, and the guitar does have quite a few dings, the worst of which you can see in the pictures. It also has one finish crack from the lower bout, nearly dead center, that's roughly 2 inches long. I tried from numerous angles to get a photo of it, but came up empty.
The action is very nice, though the neck shows some grooving and fretwear (see pictures). There is no buzz anywhere when strummed however. I would say the frets have quite a bit of life left in them, but they do show wear. On the definitely plus side, the ebony neck has some beautiful striations in it. It is stunning and very unique looking!
Now look at the full front pictures and forget all about the cosmetic issues. Yes, the guitar does look that good from a few feet away. The dings and such simply disappear. Then you are left with nothing but that gorgeous tone!
The case is in average shape with some of that blistering you see sometimes, but the interior is just fine, and the thing closes and latches securely.
So considering it has some flaws, let's try to make this easy for someone out there. How about $565 shipped in the continental US? And of course an appropriate donation to the OFC will be forthcoming if it sells here. Let me know what you think. Thanks for looking and keep your eyes peeled for some others on the way.

It's one of my ever favorits as well!!
I sold my 1614 to Riccardo in Italy as I bought Dave's FD14. Later I missed her and purchased a 1114 again and I love her. Wonderful tone, she will never leave my stable again.
