That's right. I am in search of a 5 string Ovation bass. I am primarily a bass player, and I love Ovations (though I have yet to own one) so the connection was just a logical conclusion if you ask me. So throw me all of your 5 string offers.

Also, since I still without a ovation, if you have a nice one for sale, you are welcome to the party. I was offered a 1998 (0r was that 1999) limited ovation that was very beautiful but that deal did not go through unfortunately.

I hope to soon be a proud owner of a beautiful Ovation.

Thank you MatureWolf. Unfortunately, thats a bit out of my price range. From what I see, they are not very common creatures.

Randy(AKA Northcountry) at one time had a very nice US- Built 5-String Custom Elite Acoustic Bass up for sale. I don't know that he ever sold it, but I'm sure it wouldn't go cheap. With acoustic Bass guitars you get what you pay for. Aside from the blue Adamas acoustic bass belonging to Mr. Keller, There isn't a nicer and more projecting acoustic bass guitar ever built than the USA Ovation Elite Bass. I compared every one I could get my hands on for over 3 years before purchasing an older model natural spruce top model. I had even bought the huge Takoma Thunderchief, only to find that it couldn't come close to the smaller Elite Bass in volume and clarity. I ended up selling the Tacoma to purchase my elite. The tone quality and overall workmanship were unmatched by any of the competitors. If you can get one... Snag it while you still can! If you are serious about playing bass, spend the money once and get the best. You won't be dissappointed.

For Non-Acoustic, the Ovation Magnum is the best one on the market for the money (IF you can find one that is)It's a man's bass though...(no offense intended ladies), You'll need to work out regularly on the weights to shoulder it for a long time (: ...OOOOps ... I just noticed you asked about a 5-string, not an acoustic...sorry.

I still stand behing my statement about the Magnums though. I HAVE seen 5-String Magnums, but they are really rare. Same with the fretless.

I now own Mr Keller's prototype Adamas bass and also one of the few fretless Magnums.

Both are great basses with their own unique use and they sound terrific and fit in the mix well with my other basses.

Now I'm REALLY jealous!... Last time I spoke with Kim about parting with his Adamas bass, he started talking about some kind of trade for a Mercedes.
