At this time of year, I can't help but think back to the days I was a kid in Jersey and those old claymation Christmas specials on TV.

Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer was my favorite. I loved those Christmas' in Jersey...

Merry freaking Christmas, Yous guys.

Davey & Goliath.

At the time nobody knew it was a christian cartoon with all the subliminal messages and figures. Oh look, here's Davey shoveling the steps to the church so everyone can attend christmas service. Way to go, Davey.

I've been told that I style my hair after Davey. Maybe I do. If it weren't for the christian thing maybe you could say I patterned my whole life after him? Heck, he's kind to others, respects adults, allows Sally (little sister) to play along, and he has multi-racial friends (in 1966 this was a big deal on network TV). As you will also recall, Davey was a drummer. And low and behold in my teen years so was I. Plus I like the name.

. . you forgot to mention eternal envy of Goliath (who could lick his own nuts) . . .

I can remember as a kid waking up at Crack o'Dark on Sunday mornings, turning on the TV, and D&G would be the second thing to come on when the TV stations FINALLY started broadcasting for the day (the first thing to come on was when NJ actually used to broadcast "Farming" programs early in the wee hours).

oh my God the farm report....I remember that too.
D & G were also on in my house but we always would complain there were no cartoons on Sunday morning.

BTW whenever I talk to a good friend of mine it is always in a Goliath voice "hey there DAAAYVEEEE"

Did no one watch Abbott & Costello, Audie Murphy or The Stooges? Watching them was almost a religion to my dad and I.

Until Dad nodded his head and I hit it, that is.

I think that my Davey & Goliath memories are merged/melted/metamorphosed in with my Gumby and Poky memories.

Just one of those "the more the merrier" guys, are we Woody?

Not that there's anything wrong with that...(in some states anyway).

For me, it was Roy Rogers and Sky King. Used to get up early and watch the test pattern until they came on. Weekday shows were Sheriff John and The Winchell Mahoney Show.

Wasn't "Sunrise Semester" on at 600am, then the Farm Report, then D&G at 7am? Actually "Sunrise Semester" has an interesting history. It was rebroadcasts of lectures from NYU instructors. CBS could only get funding for it from the gov't if it was in conjunction with an institute of higher learning. My how things have gone full circle. Now NYU gets their funding from me.

I remember "Sunrise Semester", but not too vividly . . .

. . I pretty much used it as "background noise" while I was chewing the top off of a fresh box of Trix . . .

"'A! You talkin' to ME?"

Hysterical. However Lady Weaser saw it as well and is now wondering who my "new friends" are...

Bobbo mentioned my shows ("...out of the clear blue western sky comes SKY KING!" and "Put another candle on the birthday cake, you're another year old today").

Don't forget Engineer Bill.

Sherrif John and the Winchell Mahoney Show... I don't even want to think how long ago that was. When I was a little kid, it was those two plus Hobo Kelly and Romper Room. (Weren't some of these local to SoCal though?)

I loved watching the claymation Christmas specials every year... but nothing beats the original Charlie Brown Christmas special. (Allright, guys... you watched it every year, too. Admit it!!! :D Everybody knows what a Charlie Brown Tree is... how is that, if you didn't watch the special?)
