IT Manager for a northwest plumbing, electrical and lighting business. It's a long rive to work (45 miles), but I refuse to live in the city. Worship leader at our church, husband and father.
Noodler on the side, and my wonderful wife supported my dream of acquiring the necessary hardware for home recording.

My title at work is Switching Equipment Tech ( I can't spell technition). Don't do much work on the switching equipment any more. Now it's circuit packs and fiber optics. 36 yrs with what I like to call "the phone company." Diamond State Telephone, then Bell Atlantic, now Verizon.
Still waiting for that Lottery pension plan to kick in so I can retire. And still trying to "get over the hump" with my guitar "playing."

Retired after 21 years in the Marine Corps as an FO (forward observer),while there I transfered into graphic arts for a while, then to aviation precision measurement equipment repair and calibration (metrology), all-the-while maintaining a part-time business as a sign painter. After retiring from the Marines I accepted a job as "working" City Superintendent for a small town in northern Michigan (sometimes I call it Mayberry), where I supervise the water, sewer, streets and park departments, and look for grant money. On my off time (ha-ha) I lead a worship team at our church.

Isn't "Large American Car Company" kind of an oxymoron? I can't think of a "small" American car company off the top of me head.

Actually interesting to think about how convolved things have become in the car business. Doesn't GM now own Saab and Kia, Ford owns Volvo and Jag, Chrysler is part of MB ...

I've got a good friend who works at the MB plant in Stuutgart (which by the way, in terms of a factory tour, THAT is the one you want to see). Anyway, to listen to him the story is that MB owns Chrysler, not the other way around. And the MB's that are made in the US (I think the ML's) are NOT called MB's by the Germans. They are called CHRYSLER-Benz. Nothing wrong with National Pride, I guess.

I teach guitar and am the assistant administrator/director for our church's School of Fine Arts. The irony about me teaching guitar is I don't read a lick of music. I tell my students if you want to learn music theory you need to go two doors down the hall, but if you want to learn to play guitar, THAT I can help you with.

Before I got into music education (that is, if you can call what I do music education), I played professionally from 1977-94, and then tried retail management for about 10 years and hated every minute of it.

After my bout with colon cancer last year, I decided life's to short to waste your time doing a job you hate so I got out of the retail thing. I enjoy what I'm doing now, and it's fun being in on the ground floor of a brand new school (we just completed our first semester and are ramping up for our second to start next week). I still have an awesome outlet for playing, as I also help lead worship in our church as the leader of the Praise Band. It's a non-paid position, but one I wouldn't trade for anything.

I gave up my deadend job of engraving tombstones back in the early 80s for a career in the Canadian Military. 22 years and still going strong. Took up playing the guitar while stationed in Egypt for a year. What else ya gonna do?

Dave, Mercedes DOES own Chrysler, not the other way around. The Germans run the company. Daimler-Chrysler is NOT an American company. Check out the book "Taken For A Ride" if you want the straight story.

I was referring to General Motors and Ford. Ford owns Jaguar, Aston-Martin, Volvo, Land Rover and holds a controlling interest in Mazda.

The way things are going, there won't be ANY big American car companies in 10 years. A couple of moderate-sized ones, if we're lucky.

I'm not sure, but I don't think Converse allows anyone from New York within 50 miles of the city limits.

Unless, of course, you can say "y'all", "fixin", and "Long live W" without smiling in the same sentence, can put down a 3 pound chicken-fried steak with all the trimmings in under 30 minutes, and can bridle and saddle a horse blindfolded. Maybe then you can be an adopted Texan. :D

After owning a restaurant for the past 11 years, I recently sold the busines and play my guitars a lot more. No, I am not bored yet. Doing some consulting work, while waiting for Mick or Keith to call for the next US Tour...ha ha ha.
Play weekly acoustic guitar for my church services, and open mic stuff both electric and acoustic, whenever I can.

I worked as a facilities engineer for a large corporation for over 27 years. Started out as a production worker a gradually worked my way up the ladder. In 1990 after our plant was sold to a much smaller company was told, (along with several hundred others), that my services were no longer required. After several years my wife and I moved to Tennessee where we both work a theme park called "Dollywood" owned in part by Dolly Parton. I work for The Southern Gospel Music Association and work in their museum located within the park. This next year I plan to start drawing social security and only work part time. I sing occasionally in church and spend my off time visiting some of the older folks that are in nursing home or shut- in at home and play and sing for them. No money but a real blessing for me.

Left a lot out of the story but I've tried not to ramble on, (not too much).

I've enjoyed reading all the other posts. :)

Got to run and do some pickin' and grinnin' :D

Well, I've been to Dallas / Fort Worth, and found the people pretty friendly. And I love eating beef. The only thing I found annoying was that I could go down the street to the strip mall to buy a gun, but had to drive to the next county to get a bottle of scotch! If I were mayor I'd change that.

Since everybody is giving history, I guess I need to add that in addition to being an electrician and an operations manager, I've been a professional grower for a large wholesale greenhouse operation, a mobile power specialist, selling and building PTO's and hydraulic pumps for the trucking industry, and a water pump installer. Obviously, I've stretched my biology degree to its fullest extent.

Full time musician - or I was until my wife died. Since that I've concentrated on raising my kids, and I'm just playing gigs here and there. I'm staying home with them and watching them as closely as I can. No other day job.

They found their mother dead in the middle of the night while I was out playing in a band. They were only ages 4 and 7 at the time. They seem to be fine, and I'm making sure of it.
