I put a few more shots up. This time a few of the music room I have adopted from my youngest Daughters old bedroom, She has moved to a new room, I didn't kick her out.
And a few slightly better shots of the new Deacon bridges & truss covers I have been carving out of Various Hardwoods for fun.
I also figured this might be a good place for anyone who has loaded any new photo's to mention them in this thread so we can all enjoy.

That is good! You are no longer pictorially challenged! Good variety.

Thanks Mikes Not sure where I am going with these I just found some more wood and this little project hit me as something I wanted to get done before this year was gone.

I am thinking of bringing this Deacon to the meet this year so some of you can get a look at what these look like in person. And Yeah My photo's needed some improvement.

That's one of the nicer Gibby-style teardrop bursts I've seen. Not my cup of tea, but at least they did it 'right.' Now, the cedar S771...

Beautiful guitar. Ovation does a burst better than anybody else out there.

That's a really good question. I'll get a better pic of the rosette, but it looks to me like it's not made of anything. It's too small in the pic to see, but it appears painted on or a sticker or something. The Ovation website spec'd a hand inlay, but it doesn't look like it. The website also offered this as a standard finish on the S771, but it cost me another C-note. I really had my heart set on it, so I got it. I have been enjoying this guitar a great deal, but I felt a little like I got less and payed more than advertised.

I would like to have gotten a clearer pic, but the two white stripes are actually two rows of white double pinstripes on a black ring. Any info would be appreciated. If you go to the Ovation site, you'll see that it lists the rosette as hand inlaid. (???)

I would guess that it is 5 laminations of alternating black and white ivoroid (or similar) binding material. If you think it is simply 'painted' on, it is likely a tribute to the fit and finish of the work.

Anybody know why luthiers do the binding thing around the soundhole? I'm guessing that the fact pretty much all guitars have some sort of binding it is more than simply cosmetic. Maybe it help prevent cracking around the sound hole. It worked for Trigger
