Ok folks,
I've tracked down a 1997 1881-NB5 for sale in Orange, CT. The problem is the shop selling it will not do mail service or shipping.

Orange is located about halfway between Bridgeport and New Haven, near Milford off exit 41, Hwy 95.

Here's the offer: The guitar is selling for $910, shipping is about $100, I'll throw in an extra $100 for someone to buy this for me. I will then pay through PayPal or some other terms if necessary. PM me if your in the area and interested in helping me get the mate to my 12-string.

Thanks,
Tim

Maybe they will put a hold on it for Tim until you can get there.

Jeff W, that Viginian just keeps on giving and giving. Can't wait to meet up and share some stories!

web page

Here's the store info, I called them this morning and they still have the guitar for sale. The serial number is 12830, puts it squarely in the 1997 Adamas block and with the Optima preamp.
The condition is listed as excellent with hard case.

Tim, can you just pay them online and make arrangements for Jeff to pick it up?

Edit: 'Course, if Jeff pays for it he can play a few licks on it and verify the condition before you're committed.

Humm, I'm married to a Virginian. She keeps buying me guitars, maybe it's something in the water there :D

The store didn't seem inclined to do any online or phone transactions. Strickly a cash & carry establishment.

Yes, but the guy on the phone said not over the phone. Someone had to come in to do the transaction.

I'll call and ask if they take cards...I will also call again before I drive up to make sure they still have it...

..but if there are any OFCers close by tween now and then it might make sense for them to go in sooner than I will be able to get up that way....

I know this is a desirable git-fiddle, but....strictly cash (and CC) and carry, and no transactions over the phone??? Doesn't give me a warm feeling about their "after-the-sale" service, when their "before-the-sale" service is so rotten......

The odd thing here is that I have bought a number of Ovations for Daddy's and always mail order over the phone with credit card. It's been a few years now, so maybe this in-store only thing is something new. Dave

Don't know, maybe they've had problems with ID theft or something recently, maybe it was guitars getting damaged in shipping and having to eat some/all of the cost. But the no mail order is posted on all their web pages. The guy I talked to wouldn't even consider making a special exception, given the fact I was in Hawaii.

I've never dealt with them, but have enjoyed browsing their site(s) for the last couple of years. I recently became aware of their 'no mail order' policy, as well. I found it quite odd (then again, who am I to cast aspersions?) so whatever I was looking into at the time became less than desirable in a hurry. I hope it works out for you.

I might be down that way next week. I know Orange, hit the GC down there a lot, and imagine Daddy's is nearby. Or I can back Jeff up if needed.Or I can just buy it and keep it.....kidding.

Also might be able to call you with in-hand descript if you like.

Okally, dokally,

Soonest I can get there will be Tuesday, but more like Weds or Thurs. No matter what I'll keep posted, and, as Jeff says, sooner the better if anyone else is that way.
