Ovation is coming out with the 1618 Glen Campbell 12-str reissue.

I have an as-new 1118 (acoustic)

Just picked up this 1618 tonight:

Nice grab, Tony. Those old slots are beautiful looking instruments.

Of the wood 12-strings, I don't have experience with Pacemaker, Balladeer, or Elite 12's.

The Glen Campbell or the Custom Legend slotheads (more expensive, more "bling") are (IMHO) fantastic 12 strings. I believe that opinion is shared - notice that the GC is available as a reissue this year.

Hopefully, this guitar is as described by the seller. Several went for $750 last year. Getting harder each year to find one in good condition for a reasonable price. Seriously recommend consideration of the reissue or watch for one on eBay.

Last year made and list price:

1118 GC acoustic - 1981 $745
1618 GC a/e - 1981 $900

1158 Custom Legend acoustic - 1981 $1,020
1658 Custom Legend a/e - 1981 $1,200

Have played the 6759, 1615, Legend LX, MrGolf's Custom Legend 12, an Adamas 1598 and expect arrival of a Custom Elite LX 12 soon.

All unique flavors.

Very Nice indeed Tony

Just what I'm looking for but in UK.

Piers,

Here's a similar model on ebay.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-Ovation-Pacemaker-1615-12-String-Guitar...

perhaps someone on the west coast could grab it for you and ship to the UK.

Or is flycastingdog one of us?

No there is only one west coast.

Thought someone in southern CA could pick it up in person. then ship.

Maybe not a good idea after all.

BTW are all you folks in the northwest OK?

I hear you don't need humidifiers in your guitars for the time being.

Well I thought I might have been wrong but I was mistaken(?)

The Item is in South Carolina (Calorinia?). But I'm not that good at Geology!

 :D

Very rainy, occasional high winds but mostly mud, wet and darkness.

I wore my Aloha shirt to work in protest today.

Rage against the machine!

No, they need drain plugs...a real advantage for the Elite line.

Not too far east of the west coast, we have a huge hole in the ceiling from where the rain blew in around the chimney flashing. But it's still only 32% in the basement with the guitars. Tough here in the desert. A half inch in one day is a big deal.

Lots of rivers and creeks at or above flood stage. The occasional road closure due to mud slide or deep water. A few "sucks to be me" moments for people living in flood plains or on lots angled at 45 degrees or so.... but mostly just soggy. Thanks for asking!

Woody,

Another example of my ability to see but not observe. :o :o :o

I'd offer to pick it up but my wife and I are going on a cruise next week. :) :D

What David said. Lots of fun driving home at night in the rain, with the added feature of having to watch out for lakes where there used to be roadway.

Hmmm. There's a song in there somewhere, just can't put my finger on it... maybe if you were fixing it...

Today is fix the hole in the ceiling day, but my wife thinks we should wait for the pro so that she gets a guarantee. It's been 2 weeks waiting for the pros and meanwhile all the heat is going out the ceiling.
Since the house is 10 years old and she wants to move, I don't see what good a guarantee will do, but I am applying the first rule of marriage (the guy always loses) and agreeing with her.
(In about 5 minutes she'll see me on the computer and say "I thought you were going to fix the ceiling."

We guitarists seem to suffer from hole fixation.

Wow! $400 for the 1618!
What a great purchase.
I just purchased a 1979 1618 recently. What a great guitar.
Play On!
