Location: New Hampsha | Been looking at buying a kit git. I've seen the acoustic guitar kits from LMI and from Stew-Mac. Quite a difference in price; can anyone comment on whether the LMI kits are twice as nice as the Stew Mac kits to justify the extra jing? Are there any other all-the-parts-plus-instructions-kits out there that merit consideration to wind up with a nice unit? |

Location: Midland, MI | No idea on the acoustic guitar kits, but I was pricing out tele-style bodies, necks, hardware, etc. not too long ago. I discovered I could get a Hamer T51 (yeah, right...just try and find one lately) or a G&L ASAT in excellent shape for about the same price as the body, neck and pups. Now I have two G&Ls in the stable. ;)
That being said, I also knew I could buy a toob amp for far less than it took to build one. Yet, build one I did (and once again, many thanks to Charlie!). There is something to be said for creating something from scratch.
Grizzly always seems to come up, as well as Warmoth. There was a site I used to have bookmarked for a 'booteak' acoustic builder who also sold kits, but I can't seem to locate it. Best of luck, and don't forget to give updates! |

I have purchased quite a few (sh*t load) items from Stew Mac for the guitar I am building. Good quality, fair price, good customer support.
I've been to all three (Grizzly, LMI, SM) and I'd go with SM for price and quality. |
