I've been wanting to learn the mandolin for a while and this Christmas my wife let me pick one out. I didn't want to spend a ton of money only to find out my gi-normus fingers were not suited for it. I looked at the Celebrity and a Mid-Missouri, but ultimately settled on a Morgan Monroe(Bean Blossom) solid mahogony A-style(BAM-200). I have found it has a huge sound, is very well constructed and is pretty easy to learn on.

If anyone is in the market for a starter mando, I would highly recommend it ($200ish and even has a 10 year warranty).

Cheers,
Mike O

Sounds like a nice one. Good luck with the learning process. Dave
