| First of all, hello from a new member.
I've had Ovations for about the last 12 years. One is an Ovation with the model 1617-4 on the inside label. The price reference chart on this site would make that a Legend, but on other sites the last "7" would indicate a Glen Campbell Artist Balladeer. Looking at photos it could be either - which is likely to be right? Also, is there any way to date this?
Problem 2 - my Adamas has 2 references on the label: "712-94" and "16875". Again, I think the 712 is the model number, which would make it a 1979, but the 16875 on the price chart puts it later than that - any clues on this one?
Thanks for any help - I'm looking forward to seeing and joining the discussions

Is this 1617 your ovation? The fine print above the ovation 4th digit code states the 'first eight models'. Someone here will be able to list them off the top of their head and be of help on the Adamas. |

Location: Scotland | 1617 makes it a Legend. The Glen Campbell would be 1627. The third digit indicates bowl depth 1 for deep and 2 for artist depth which was the original shallow bowl (as opposed to super-shallow) Apart from bracing and bowl depth the Legend and GC are basically the same guitar. The 5th digit is the finish code, 4 = natural. You can date it from the serial number.
As for the Adamas, 712 is the serial number, making it from '79. 94 is the fundamental frequency. 1687 is the model number and 5 is the colour code. |

Location: croatia | I bought Ovation Legend yesterday, but I'm confused with serial 203943. In chart on Ovation official site there is no serials between 203000 and 211011!? Help! |
