Location: Boise, Idaho | I think they still have one at the local GC. I played it there, but can't really remember anything about it, good or bad. I always have trouble distinguishing minor differences in the guitars, especially there, where they have the humidifiers going and there is always someone else playing. I'll try to check it out this weekend. |

Location: Warren,Pa. | First, let me say that I haven't played one. Having said that, the "bass-heavy" opinion is what I've heard from most folks who play ANY Ovation with sound holes on the bass side only. I doubt the Koa has anything to do with it since the Koa is only 1/64" or so, the other 2 plys being whatever is on all the other laminated tops. It's a real pretty guitar, but that beauty is only skin deep. For my money I'd look for an Elite T in that pricepoint. Much better guitar, probably a better sound...just not as sexy a look to the top. IMHO, John <>{ |

Location: Phoenix AZ | I played one at NAMM. It was too noisy to really tell how it sounded but the quality and setup was very, very good. It was by far the best looking guitar in the Ovation display. Dave |

I was sucked in to the 1" deep top wood. Beautiful!
I have played two, and at the same music store, acoustically and into a Fender Acoustasonic amp.
Unplugged they lacked luster but felt nice. Muted if anything.
Plugged in was not impressive. I struggled to get the piezo quackiness out.
I also played a 2003 Collector, SMT Adamas and the 2005 Collector in the same room. No comparison.

Location: Boise, Idaho | Every time I try to plug in an Ovation at the local GC the battery is dead. I just quit trying. I would have thought that all the new Ovations would sound about the same plugged in. I don't know if I'll get time to get over there this week, but I'll try. Last time I was there they didn't have much to chose from on acoustic amps either. They had a beat up Peavey 112 that I couldn't get to work right and they wanted $350 for it.

Location: Boise, Idaho | I stopped by on the way home. They must have sold the 347. They had a Koa 057, but it doesn't have the heavy bass. Seemed like a mid bowl, now that I think about it. Wierd. Anyway, I didn't try plugging it in, since it wasn't what you were asking about.

Location: Waxahachie, Tx | MWoody, Curious did you happen to notice what they were selling the 2003 Collector for, These are Pre LX but they sure look good and the one at my local Music store sounded pretty good for not having the LX upgrades, alas, the ole boy wants $1100.00 Clams.

Location: Upper Left USA | I really liked the look, feel and sound of the 2003. I enjoy the wooden cross themes and it is the first inlayed Epaulet Elite.
There's an overpriced model still on the wall at the Ted Brown in Silverdale, WA going for about $1400 and it has a swapped out OP 20 from a Celeb still in it! I've told them its the wrong preamp for about 2 1/2 years now.
