Joined: September 2003 Posts: 782 Location: Waurika OK | I have been watching a Hamer Daytona on eBay. I like the looks of it. It is nice looking, red. Yesterday I went to the HFC to see what I could find out about the Daytona. While browsing there, saw a member wanting to sell a T 62, seafoam green. I really like the birdseye maple neck. I don't need to buy anything until I get some medical bills paid. But for future reference, can anyone compare these two Hamers? Looks like the Daytona is going to go for about $420 and the T 62 owner was asking $735 shipped. What about these prices? thanks

Hrmm? That T62 is freaking beautiful. It may be worth the $735, but I have no idea, as I'm not familiar with those models (T62, T51, TLE, Daytona, Chaparral, etc.). Have you tried looking at completed auctions on fleaBay? If that T62 is listed on the HFC and nobody's snapped it up, the price *might* be on the high side; those guys will jump all over good/reasonable deals. At least they used to. Al's a Hamer dealer, maybe he could fill you in on the used market?

I like this one is better than the red one, but I think I'll stick with my dear old Strat. At some point I'll get a T51, but I've gotta pay for a wedding first.

I actually have one for sale. It is nicely 'broken in'. :-) The T-62 is indeed a scaled down Strat style guitar with a single volume control and an active preamp. I have had several of them, and the preamp was bad in half of them. It IS replaceable, though not a cheap fix. There are not a lot of these out there, making one a good buy if the price is right. You just have to determine if it is, or not. Both of these models are very, very cool guitars. Al has probably had the most extensive experience with them of anyone on this board.

The 1614 I just got came in fine and the guy didn't loosen the strings or put any padding in the case like I asked him. It was really cold here Friday, but I had a neighbor put it in the house as soon as it was delivered and I opened it a few hours later when I got home. I don't have the patience you do.
