Okay, so my brand-new Adamas 1597 arrived and I was thrilled beyond compare with its beautiful voice, the looks, the feel of the neck, everything -- except the action was a little high.

I removed the single shim under the bridge, which set the action just right, but now the low E has a buzz if I "dig deep." So I used an allen wrench and backed off 1/4 turn on the truss, but the buzz remains. I hesitate to go any further without advice.

Anyone got some?

Curious how you know they play muzak in the gas chamber...

if they do...why even bother using gas?

adjustment of the neck is really for the neck, not the action.

I have a question on dual action truss rods that may relate. Maybe someone will help us both out. Is there a small "neutral zone" where turning the wrench is just taking up slack in the rod, and not actually tweaking the neck? Say you let off all the tension in one direction, but it takes some extra turning to engage in the other direction?

I can never remember which way to turn the nut. Looking down the neck from the sound hole, does turning the nut clockwise curl the head up toward you or flatten it down?

try narcan to get the buzz out....

NARCAN (naloxone hydrochloride injection, USP), an opioid antagonist, is a synthetic congener of oxymorphone. In structure it differs from oxymorphone in that the methyl group on the nitrogen atom is replaced by an allyl group.

I was in GC the other day (buying wall hangers for my 2 new/used Ovations) and somebody was looking for a cheep guitar for his kid. A Mitchell was very playable, but had some fret buzz, so I just started grabbing guitars off the wall. A breedlove had fret buzz. Seems like everything that was easy to play had fret buzz on the low E if you hit it hard enough.
My Ultra GS had some fret buzz once from a bow in the neck. It quit when I quit leaving it on a stand.

When I was a wee lad I thought that was what was meant by "chamber music."

Had to take a sleep break, and am fresh & ready to tackle the project. I'll let ya know what I find (or don't find).

My guess is that the nut may be filed a tad too low.

Go over to www.frets.com and check out their page on guitar setup. It is good stuff.

Thanks, All ~ I'll check out frets.com, too.

Just as I was getting ready to dive in, who shows up at the door but... Big Brown! My 1111-1 arrived (ser# 010305), so of course I had to get acquainted. Aside from some dings and scuffs (as advertised), she's in remarkable shape -- no finish cracks, good action, big-yet-mellow voice. Great campfire guitar!

I immediately put on a fresh set o' strings and introduced myself... okay, I'll say it:
We Made Love. (I don't even know her name yet!)

Now it's already bedtime again. Guess she wore me out. [sigh]

Wow, I just came dangerously close to hijacking a thread I started... is that possible?

Please let us know if you still get a BUZZ. :D
I had a Buzz on the Big E, and made a micro adjust loosening the truss rod (felt like I was taking out the slop the first 1/8 of a turn) to give a tad more relief it is now at about .010 give or take. I also put a humidifier in the case when I put it to bed and during the day when not being used no more Buzz.
