If anyone can think of any appropriate additional data, LMK in this thread!

Al or Miles, could this be tacked at the top?

Thanx to all! Can hardly wait...

We're coming! My Wife and family (2 children: boy and girl) are coming with me...
We're not sure of accommodations: we might camp depending on the weather...We will leave on Friday AM from SW VA and it's about 4 hours: so probably around 3 pm or so...
I'll have a PA, Genz Benz Stereo 60, at least 4 guitars (emphasis on AT LEAST)...

Somehow, this event worked its way over to the Smokey Mountain Harley Riders Group where its getting a lot of interest. Looks like about 300 are planning to ride over and want to know who's cooking dinner, who's bringing the beer, and what time the show starts?

Slipkid, my closest gathering was in Portland, 450 miles away. Where would that get you? I really like the woodsy idea. I suggested it a few years ago, but didn't have any takers. We're just too remote for people, but that's a choice I made.

Mark - that'll get him to somewhere in southern Kentucky, about 200 miles short. Slipkid's distance would actually be just about the same as Karen/CrimsonLake/Cliff coming from Joisey.

It would make for a long weekend. The advantage of being close geographically might also be outweighed by being close populationwise. I suspect it takes much longer to drive from Joisey to War Eagle's place than it takes me to drive to Portland. That's about 7 hours for me and in our younger days we'd leave after work Friday night and come back Sunday afternoon. Gas was lots cheaper then, too.

Any plan yet on how to feed this mob, err, crew, err, friendly gathering?

Are there a couple of decent restaurants in the area?

Blues,

Hopefully Keith (War Eagle) doesn't mind me posting a quote from him on this topic:

I was hoping to cook steaks on Saturday evening for everyone. I will go ahead and buy everything and maybe everyone can chip in. Drinks, snacks etc should be brought by everyone individually...

So I'm planning on a 'fisherman's diet' for the duration other than the Saturday PM cook-out. If there's a cafe or such in the area, I may supplement my diet with a hot meal or two. My main concern is COFFEE! I'll buy the coffee if someone will have the means to brew it.

Just as an after thought, I am bringing my own TP...

Plenty of fresh water and coffee pots on the premises....Tell the Harley Riders we've moved it to January!! Closest restaurants are the truck stops off of 40.....The bathroom is definately rustic but it will function as long as we let it breathe between takes!! Nobody will go hungry and definately not thirsty...Peace Man...It's all about the love! The first annual "O" Stock...

Iffy - someway somehow one of these boy scouts will figure out a way to keep the coffee brewing.
