Location: Costa Rica | I have a 1997 collector's edition guitar, and at it's 9th year, it is still my best friend.
The other day my "A" tuner lost it's strength. It turns fine when there is no pressure, but it can no longer hold (or even reach) a tuned state.
I need to buy a replacement key. It is the type with the Ebony keys. (I am willing to switch all the Ebony keys for golden ones though, as I have had trouble with the Ebony ones drying out and cracking and I am running out of replacements).
I do not live in USA and the place I bought my guitar no longer exists.
Where can I go to buy the Tuner?
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Location: US | It is likely that you have the plastic tuning buttons which break after a while. This happened to me. I contacted Ovation (google for their phone number)and they sent me a set of replacement ebony buttons - suggest you do the same. |

Location: Warren,Pa. | I have a '97 I recd last week as a birthday present. All the plastic buttons are cracked. I ordered Ebony buttons from StewMac for $23. I expect them in the mail today.
I used to think this was a unique cost-cutting issue with the '97 Collectors, but the previous owner sent a set of Schaller black 6-in-line mini's with the guitar. He aparently acquired them to get a new set of buttons for this guitar. That set AND the guitar have broken plastic buttons. So...if you buy these on, let's say, a Strat, I'm guessing you have to switch out plastic buttons after a while. In the big manufacturing picture I imagine there are a lot more plastic mini buttons than Ebony ones. Not on MY guitar, thank you. John <>{ |

Location: East Tennessee | When mine Mine cracked I was upset till the other guys gave me a history lesson on the 97 Collectors. I called Kim Keller a he sent a set of ebony knobs. I've thought about getting a set of pearloid knobs from Stewmac. I think they would look classy.
He said it was a bad idea to use the plastic in the first place. |
