Joined: March 2007 Posts: 698 Location: Cork, Ireland | Anyone recommend a capo for a 12-string? My trusty Shubb sort of misses the 12th string, due to the heavier gauge of the adjacent 11th. I see that Shubb make one but its just a bit longer and more curved, not sure if that will catch the 12th string properly. | ||

Joined: February 2002 Posts: 5750 Location: Scotland | I use a 6-string Shubb deluxe on my CG12 and it works fine, but I don't capo past the 4th fret on that guitar, a 6 string Shubb may struggle in higher positions. Try putting the capo on from above the neck rather than below, that might cure it. | ||

Joined: February 2004 Posts: 1634 Location: Warren,Pa. | I use the Schubb 12, but it's not a magic wand. The issue of the heavy gauge-next-to-the-light gauge strings requires adjusting the capo pretty tight and close to the fret; otherwise the light gauge strings sound muted. All of this means the strings go sharp and I have to re-tune...a little tricky when you're playing with others with no break between songs. The worst offenders are the low E,A& D strings. Sometimes I just turn my back and very quickly tune those down. Sometimes it's not spot-on. These issues only cause tension for me because of playing in a team of musicians.
