Location: south east Michigan | I've never picked up a fretless instrument before. There was a Guild fretless acoustic bass at the local GC. I was suprised to find that even with only dot markers on the side of the neck it was still possible to to stay somewhat on pitch. It was fun to play for a while.

Location: Avondale, AZ | Try play one with no markers. It can be fun on the bass with no frets. The notes sort of smoothly blend. As I always say, no frets no worries. |

Location: GATLINBURG TENNESSEE :) | The only downside of a fretless (and I like the sound anyways) is thet fretwear can become a real problem. |

A fretless MagnumII (if such a thing existed) would be my "ultimate" . .
At NAMM, I played a Godin fretless bass that was really nice. I also played the Godin "Glissantar", which is essence was a fretless 11-string guitar. Cool . . but extremely difficult to play chords on. It then occured to me that an Ovation frettless mandocello would be REALLY interesting! . . . |

Yeah, I know . . . but when I played Noah's mandocello at Moody's, I thought that adding the glissando capabilities would throw some cool "flavors" into it . . . kinda' MiddleEastern . .

I had a fretless neck built for my Magnum II, maple with a rosewood fingerboard and walnut facing on the headstock, the sound was fat and woody :)
