Location: Utah | Do the guitar designers calculate the fret spacings for specific guages of strings? On my electric I have found that the lighter guage strings have pretty marginal to poor intonation, especially the first two frets. Going to a different guage makes a big difference. The bridge is adjustable for intonation, but the lighter strings still sucked and were difficult to intonate in the first place.
I may yet eNut it or get a shelf nut. Paying to Buzz Feitenize it isn't worth the cost on an inexpensive hobby guitar. |

...and yes, luthiers calculate nut cuts for string gauge

Location: Utah | Stephent28, do you know if Monte has black nuts? (never thought I'd ever write that....)
Have you tried the metal enuts? If I can't get a black one, I'd just go with the metal one, although it looks like it adds a lot of distance to the nut. |

All the enuts I have are metal. The instructions are pretty simple to follow and it is easy to file them down for a perfect fit.
I must confess I did order a couple extras for my early attempts just in case I screwed up.
I have some of them removeable and some that I glued down. Both work very well when combined with his offsets. |
