Location: Phoenix AZ | I wonder why it's so much lighter ??? It's not just the lack of electronics. I gutted one of my Adamas 2's and one of my 1537's of all traces of electronica. They definately weigh less, but certainly not 30% less. Dave |

Location: Scotland | Just guessing, but the lack of a K-bar may make a slight diffeence. The bowl material may reduce the weight a little also |

There's been a couple of instances where when I grabbed the case I literally had to open it and CHECK to make sure the guitar was in it . . .
I'm probably wrong, but I'd venture t'say that the tops on these were a little thinner/lighter than even the production units . . . |

Location: SoCal | Just a note on Michael's numbers...believe the U681TA was acoustic. My postal scale only goes to 5lbs so can't give you an equivalent weight of the U681T (with the OP-Pro). |

Location: Chehalis, Washington | So hypothetically speaking (thank you Sally for opening a whole new can of worms :p ), would one be able to order a 47RI WITH an electronics package, be it the two-knobber, Optima, Studio, etc? For those of us who gig regularly and need amplification, this might present a feasible justification (like we need one) to get one of these incredible instruments.
Any thoughts? |

For studio recording, obviously, you could externally mic the 47RI, and you've mentioned how much power and tone it has naturally. Would you think that it would be possible to externally mic it for live gigs, particularly amongst a full band? |

external mike worked for the old folk singers (unless the wind was blowing) but this (IMHO) is where a pre-amp is necessary.
the U681T (OP-Pro) or the CVT Premier would work a heck of a lot better and still give the slothead sound.
this is why the OFC (if, if, if) would be an a/e. |

The blue burst would be nice, though I'd take it in beige, red, black, or about any other color I've ever seen on an Adamas. My 1881 is a rich nutmeg color, which I haven't seen too many of, a version of which could also be cool on an Adamas 1 - like guitar. |

Michael, what about one of your Martins? My 681 is the same as yours (acoustic only, although slightly different top) and to me the martins seem to weigh far less than even the 681. Do you agree?

In sailing terms, running before the wind, e.g. with the wind at your back, presents the smoothest, calmest ride of any vessel orientation relative to the wind. Not the fastest by any stretch, but the most comfortable by most measures. |

Location: SoCal | Okay, a little disclaimer here...I already have # 3 and another on order through Al. However, I am always curious...
Checked with two high volume internet retailers - one at $3,999.99 and another higher. Both had no stock and they had no idea when (or if) they would get their orders in...one had two on order, the other had three.
You have seen my comments (finest acoustic I have played), Bill's, and the crew that got to check a couple out during the tour.
If you possibly can, get one of these. You will not regret it.
And, IMHO, you all know which dealer I highly recommend ;) |
