We're layering atmosphere into the Cafe at our church...putting stuff on the walls, and someone donated a Celebrity mando that isn't playable any more but looks really nice. I don't want to hang it vertically like in a music store...I want to hang it diagonally, like in the playing position. I'd like the hanger to be invisible if possible. Any ideas?? John <>{

Easy. Buy or make a couple of small right-angle brackets. Fix them to the wall in the position you want and bolt the mando to them using the existing strap button bolts.

Heck, if it's not playable anymore, just find the right balance point and screw a hook into the side of the bowl on the upper side of the waist. Then it can turn in the breeze.

I'd use two Swingers. One angled at the neck and another on which the lower base bout can rest.

Fishing line won't be invisible. If it's unplayable and it's just going to be a decoration, no need to save the back. Attach mounts on the back, or put a couple of small holes in it near the neck and lower bout and rest it on picture type hangers. You should be able to angle it any way you want.

I'll post some photos tonight how I did it. Not to brag, but it came out damn nice. The guitar sits at a 45 degree angle suspended about 1" away from the wayy and just "floats". Dave

Just my perspective; even if it is not "playable" i wouldn't compromise the structural integrity of the instrument. I'd find some way to get the results you want without further damaging it.

Not sure why i feel that way, it just strikes a bad chord somewhere. Carry on.

It's a Celebrity. Can't you just screw it directly into the wall?

Step 1: Bring it to the tour.

Step 2: Let someone kick a hole in it...

Been done, Fred. Maybe Kim will provide a more exotic target this year.

Kinda doubt that Tupperware did it "for the church", rather he just hung up a Mando somewhere and offering the example.

Oh....Gorilla Glue (to offer another method), although you will want to screw it to the wall while the glue dries.

Dave's got a couple of guitars hanging at angles on the wall of his Ovation Gallery room or whatever he calls it. There are so many guitars there that I couldn't keep track. Sort of like the kid in the candy store. The ones he is referring to are very nicely and cleverly displayed and they do seem to be suspended.
