Joined: December 2005 Posts: 1234 Location: Tidal Mudflats of Virginia | Just cause everyone is still on the OFC tour "HIGH", I'd like to again broach the topic. Not wanting to get Al's arghhhhhh again in the same day...I notice upon reviewing the old posts, the consensus was an 1187-8, two knob a/e. Was there any discussion with Darren or Rick about this at the tour? I know, after the 47RI is completed and that will probably be around the fall timeframe. I need to start saving my pennies again... The quality of the 47RI has renewed my faith in investing in another topend, who else is in?

Please forgive our naivety, but I'm not exactly sure what we are or are not supposed to get with respect to this topic. Based on what I've found so far on this board, the topic is about exploring what members would like to see featured on some form of commemorative model that may or may not ever be built or offered. If this topic was discussed in a prior thread such that we newbies might all benefit by being better informed about the basis of the frustration or concern, maybe somebody could bump it on our behalf it doesn't unnecessarily open up old wounds.

We were all hanging in the lobby of the Hotel. Al basking in the glory of a successful OFC tour/event and I had to ask the dreaded question. Let's just say Al's response and the old saying too many cooks... And you get the idea. I still think this was the coolest message board gathering I've seen in a while.

I came away with the idea the OFC guitar will be top of the line and very expensive. Other, less expensive OFC guitars might happen... maybe .... someday. Personally, I have let go of the idea of wanting one. The first will be to high end for me and the others might not happen. I'll probably just special order somthing for myself. And something else that always happens at the tour. Mike was there. I probably talked to him. But damn if can't put a face to the name and a name to the face. Maybe we should have those little avatar pictures by our names.

A huge amount of interesting reading is available through the search command. Al has worked hard to get this as far as it has gotten. Without his effort, IMHO, this would not have even been considered. My estimate is that it will be a run of 10-12; after all 47RI's have been made and depending on the workload at the factory. My understanding is that it will be at a higher cost than the 47RI which was list at $4,999. Besides the electronics, the bowl used in the 47RI has to be adapted as the 47RI has no access panel. I would suggest no postings as to recommended features...we went through that already. Non-cutaway, a/e, -8, slothead. Obviously, this is not a trinket or inexpensive souvenir of the OFC. It is a unique offering by Ovation to OFC members. We can still move forward with something that shows our pride in the OFC but is at a reasonable cost such as a strap, etc. It is understood that many of the OFC'ers will not be in a position to buy this guitar when it is offered. Personally, I expect this guitar to be a guitar that will increase in price more than the 47RI - very small one-time run. If anyone wanted (or needed) to sell it later, current or new members would have to pay the going price as the supply would be extremely low, demand high - the original a/e slotheads are rarely offered, last market price was approx $12,000, only a few of the OFC will be built. And, if the OFC guitar is not built, options for a slothead with a/e are the U681T (textured top) or the Premier (CVT) - course, not with the bowl and other features you see in the originals or the 47RI.

It's only been a week since I got the 87 and haven't even had time to play it much and I'm already looking for the next one. I get an awful lot of "help" from you guys. Maybe my first and last Adamas will be the OFC guitar. Not likely. I have done OK with the smaller purchases, but don't think I can sneak in a $5000 purchase, even though SWMBO got her Honda Pilot just in time for her to almost ignore the 87 Collector's.Well, if you are MIB, then it comes due at least once per month, sometimes twice in the same day. Joined: April 2006 Posts: 1138 Location: CT | Too much money? I have approximately zero dollars to my name. Here's my Idea. Make a nice 'OFC Limited Edition' waterslide decal for anyone who wants one. Apply at the headstock like the 30th Anniversary sticker (those of you with the 30th Anniversary, can scrape off the old sticker, or put the new one somewhere else). There. Now we all have an OFC guitar.
