Speaking of appreciating our SWMBO's... ;) ;)

Way back in 1998/99, Keb' Mo' came to town and did an autograph session and played a few tunes at a music store here in Portland before his gig.

I have been trying to track down one of the songs he sang ever since.. it doesn't appear to be on any of his CD's.. Not even sure if it is a Keb' Mo' song.. he sang it as a blues number and it was very powerful.

The words have since escaped me, so I'm having no luck with Google. Anyway, the song was about a guy who was taking his life & SWMBO for granted. It basically said, don't forget to pay attention to your woman, or you may turn around and she'll be gone.

Every once in a while, I get a wild hair and do some searching for it, but I've always come up empty. I will know it the instant I see/hear it. Any ideas?

Thanks!

"Way back" means the 60's to me. I've never heard of Keb Mo.

Mark,

Sorry, I'm a young 'n at 36, so that's "way back" for me! In fact, anything prior to March 2004 (when my twin girls were born) is officially "way back" for me!

Keb' Mo' is a contemporary acoustic blues musician. Plays straight acoustic, steel resonator, and slide. Good, positive, clean blues. Gets fairly good airplay on Adult Contemporary radio, such as KINK in PDX. Some call him watered-down blues aka blues for whiteys. He's very personable and entertaining during live shows, which I used to go to a lot "way back then." :)

He's touring this summer with Bonnie Raitt and has a new CD coming out June 16th.

"And now Sherman, we set the WAYBAK machine for those halcyon days of Y2K and Britney Spears debut..1999! Ah, what carefree days they were; Michael Jordan retired for the second time, Pluto moved in to eight place from the sun, Monica Lewinsky became an author.......a simpler time."

Yeah, Keb Mo, Great player. Doesn't spin my wheels but is a must listen at least once kind of experience.

blues for whiteys
Good one. The Bimmer got rained on, the orthodontist ran 20 minutes late, Tiffany wore the same dress as me, Biff got a new set of Callaways, the maid was busted by immigration.

Seriously, Keb' Mo' is a great show, but best seen in small, intimate environs. I don't know what song you're looking for, but it's definitely in the theme that Keb' Mo' stays with ... could it be "That's Not Love"?

Yes I think a song like that rings a bell; think I heard it 4 years ago at the Byron Bay Blues and Roots festival; Keb Mo played, also this year.

Why don't you email him, here's his website

Stonebobbo, you're right, I've been fortunate to always see him in small venues or from the first couple of rows. It's not "That's Not Love" but thank you for trying.

Hobie, glad to hear I'm not nuts. Happen to remember any of the words? Good suggestion re: kebmo.com but there's no good email address for him on that site -- the feedback/contact-us pages all lead to Sony, etc. I went ahead and fired off a note anyway, we'll see what happens.

Thanks!

I'm a bit of a Keb Mo fan myself, dvd, got a couple of his discs too but I'm not placing that one. Let us know if you find it or even a verse or two.
