Cant decide which way to go. Torn about drilling that hole in the top but I really like the traditional look of it on.

Disappointed. I thought this poll "To Guard Or Not To Guard" had something to do with the Arizona/Mexico boarder. From the north we've got wildfires destroying the state. From the south we're being overrun by illegals. And in the middle the Injuns want all the land back anyway. What the hell is wrong with this picture. Dave

Tuppy,
Now why would I post a poll on anything regarding that subject matter? This is a guitar forum.. Way off topic for me is posting Gibson pics in an O forum. :p :D

Only thing bad about that is over time the glue from the tape will start to ruin the nitro. Probably better of the two evils {drilling a hole) I guess.

Based on the polling so far, you won't need to do either one.

Drill the hole, but then put on a black pickguard and pickup rings. That would rock. Call me an old fogey, but I like the traditional look of the black multi-ply guard on the Custom, and the ivory single ply on the Standards.

DO IT.....if that is what you really want. It looks good without the pickguard, but to look like a "classic" Les Paul, it needs the pickguard.

(Well.....as long as it isn't the 1960 reissue pickguard that has "1960" on it.....that looks SO bogus to me. Just my opinion.)

OOPS! I missed that it's a Custom. I agree with brainslag, it should have the black pickguard, if you decide to do it.

I'd leave it. It looks real purdy the way it is . . .
(besides, you're too adept of a player t'scratch it.)

I've gotta agree with Cliff - that's a spectacular looking guitar and I'd hate to see it covered up. Just don't do any shredding...

That should be easy 'nuff...shouldn't it...? ;)

Well the way it stands doesnt look like its going to be "screwed" :) . One thing to clarify though is that its NOT a custom but a Supreme. The super 400 inlays and headstock are different than that of a custom and the back is also a maple cap with no routes for any wiring.Everything is done going thru the input jack. The body is chambered which gives it a much different sound than a custom. This particular one never saw a store as it came direct from the factory, hand picked. I did change the bezels around the pups as they came standard black.Hell, with all the comments I might just change 'em back and leave it stock! :D

Don't be a Phil-istine - put the guard on. That's what Les Paul's look like.

.....except for Peter Frampton's......

CHAMBERED????? COOL!!!!! If you're going for a personal look, yeah, leave the guard off. It's a beauty.
