I've used the pyramids before. Good strings.

If you want to try something different from D'addario, try these:

Flat-tops

I've never tried flatwound strings. Might be interesting one of these days.

I had them on an old bass and thought they were a bit of a fad. Did nothing for me.

You don't. Trust me. They sound OK on biscuit cones but they just sound dull and lifeless on spider cones. They cut down on slide noise a little, but personally I think that's part of the character of the sound.

Everybody that I know has either loved or hated the half-rounds, but they do cut down on finger noise. So if you don't like the feel of Elixers then the flat-tops might be what you're looking for.

I tried several strings in the past. I like the sound of the Martin SPs, but they don't last very long. Plus, I really do not like changing strings often. Then I checked out D'addario EXPs, and I've been using them ever since.

I have had similar experience with SP+s. To me, they have a fantastic bell tone like sound for about three weeks, and, then, the thrill is gone. I still use them on my Martin 000C. I tolerate many different brands of strings until they go dead. I'm now cautiously trying Dunlop String Cleaner and Conditioner on two guitars but wonder how it might effect fret boards.
