Hmmmm....nice idea but I'd need to know a lttle more about the internal construction of this before I'd go for it, like does it have a soundwell or not. Also I'm not convinced that securing the strings through holes in the coverplate is a great idea, it should really have a tailpiece, but I guess you could add one pretty easily. It looks like the work is pretty tidy but you have to question whether you need to own any guitar that the seller describes as sounding like a banjo!

That said, It's probably worth a punt just for novelty value, it'll be interesting to see what price it reaches.

Not the first time I've seen something like this.....a shop in Columbus, IN made a lie-flat dobro out of an old Applause they had which had been consigned to the dumpster(cracked top). Sounded "OK", but didn't float my boat...the round back didn't sit on a lap well. Took them over 6 months to sell the thing(at $125), even in "roots music" country.

Nope.

Unless dropping the original guitar in the Music store counts for something!

If I was to start playing with slide or Dobro's (55 Gallon Drum full of hubcaps and ferrel cats rolling down a cobblestone street) I would be single and homeless.

My Tinitus is in a lower range thank you very much. I try to harmonize with it.

Let's see . . . .

Strings attached to the faceplate at one end . . .

. . . affixed to a "grafted-on" peghead at the other . . . .

hmmmmmm . . . .

I bet the neck joint will hold fine, but I would DEFINITELY install a tail piece.

(probably why it sounds like a banjo)

Dave, go for it. I got a tailpiece for you. The when you get it we can compare the spider construction with the biscuit that's at the factory.
Good Luck!
