We have many discussions about the relative quality of sellers of instruments... but, little on what constitutes a good customer of same.

How to be a good customer?

1) have a genuine interest in the instrument, not be just messing around.

2) do your "homework" and have some knowledge about the brand and model.

3) ask your questions of the buyer prior to committing to buy the instrument.

4) after committing to buy the instrument, pay promptly.

I've sold three guitars and a mandolin on eBay; these work for me.

I think Roger nailed it for me. As a Seller I try to be very attentive. Little frustrates me more than poor communication.

1) Don't stay any longer than the agreed upon alotted time;

2) Leave your money on the table in clear view;

3) Nothing in the eye no matter how funny you think it is.

Oh, wait...you meant PayP...whoops, please disregard.

Read the freakin posting. I have people email me all the time asking questions that I already answered in the auction text.

That and pay promptly. I ALWAYS ship the item the same day or the next day after recieving payment. It just drives me crazy when someone wins an auction and then can't pay me for a week.

Al, this is your shot at developing a strict code of conduct when it comes to purchasing guitars from you. You could be the 'Soup Nazi' of Stringed Instruments.

Does Al sell soup as well?

Amazing. The hidden talents of that man...

Back on the off-topic. I try to be a good customer by treating the transaction as if someone was giving me their money, not the other way around.

More often than not, I'm paying for something I can't do/make for myself so someone's doing me a favour. Just how I appraoch things.

JB
