Hi guys

Right, here goes... I've found a guitar on eBay that I fancy. (before you reply, it's not what you think...)

However, the seller won't ship to the UK. The listing says they won't, and I have asked whether they would in general, to which the answer was "no". Fairy nuff. Can't argue with that.

It's not a particularly special guitar (if at all), but it's one I've been kind of looking for for a while. It's not an expensive guitar by any means.

The only reason I'm thinking this is because they come up on the 'Bay very infrequently, and I've never seen one on the UK site.

Would anyone stateside be prepared to either a)buy it for me, ship it on to me, and I'll pay them or b)let me but it, have it shipped to them, and then ship it on to me?

It's nothing illicit, and I'm not trying to get round anything, just trying to get hold of one that I may not see again for a while.

You can trust me (honest... I'm not even claiming to be a doctor!). I'll make sure that any expenses are covered, plus a bit for your time, plus a bit as I'm nice like that, and I'll even avoid PayPal if you wish.

If this is felt "bang out of order", just let me know and I'll delete this & we can pretend this never happened.

Cheers, dudes.

JB,

How can you say this is one of the more bizarre requests we'll see here? Haven't you read any of the llama threads?! Then to make matters worse, you disclaim it further by stating "It's nothing illicit". In fact it's not even morraly questionable. What kind of *&^% is this!? :D :p

Seriously,

Not the first time it's been done. Start with the east coast boys. Al's a little busy, so I'd try Jeff W, CwkII, or any of the NJ/NY Boyz, If they can't help then work your way west. I'm thinking the worst case would be freight from the mid-west. Bunch of big hearted clowns up there oughta be good for something... You'll definatley have help before Colorado, if not east of the Rockies. Where is the guitar located? Maybe it needs to take a little tour before we send it over the pond. On second thought, scratch Jeff W. He's likely to ransom it for his UT681T, which I think is considered a political prisoner by this time :D :p

seems like similar things have been done here in the past. What part of the US is the seller/guitar in?

If anyone wants to fill the case with used notes, that's fine! Maybe I should have sold this idea better!

Wouldn't have thought the little dude would stand up to a tour, to be honest!

Seller is in Heath, which I think is in Ohio (?... do cut me some slack if I've got that wrong. I can only find London on an Atlas if I have an hour, and my own a$$ with both hands one time out of three..). That sounds like a North East job to me...

Please, no soil or vegetables included! ;)

I do this all the time, Cliff and Moody have both taken guitars for me where the seller is not prepard to ship outside of the US. I usually email the seller in advance to tell him that I'm an overseas bidder but will provide a US shipping address. Never had a problem.

Buy it, have the Seller ship it to me, we'll check it out and ship it over to you.

JB, if nothing else works out, let me know. Also, if the seller is in Utah or other nearby mountain west states, I could possibly pick it up in person. My mother lives near Birmingham UK and is coming to visit in about 3 weeks. She could carry it back on the airplane, maybe, if I sweet talk her enough. I'm not sure the best way to get it from Birmingham to the Isle of Man, though.

I'm not sure I'd trust a guy from an Island with nothin' but men folk, unless of course, there's a nearby island full of nothin' but women folk close enough to visit, but fur enough to not hear the naggin'

I don't think this is bizarre at all. I'd be glad to help, but if you can't find Ohio, you could never find Idaho.

There's not only men here, but there are some very suspect women. That's all I'm saying... Teehee!

Thanks very much for all your offers of help.

Like buses, however, one of these turned up on a BIN, with shipping to UK available, so I've snapped that up.

Should that fall through, though, I may take one of you kind gentlemen up on their offer. Will keep you posted!

Many thanks again.

Greg's offer sounds good to me, but I'd be glad to do the deal for you, either way you want.

All kidding aside, I've always wondered about the origin of the name "Isle of Man" Do you, as a Manly islander have a clue as to why your island is named so?

It's shorter than "Isle of Neanderthal."

They tried "Isle of HomoSapien" as well, but the Island GiftShop couldn't sell any of those stupid oval-shaped souvenir bumper stickers with "HOMO" on it, . . . for some reason.

Difficult to explain the Isle Of Man - it is sort of affiliated to the Uk but has it's own Parliament and makes its own tax laws. Basically this means the locals don't pay much, if anything , by way of taxes and lots and lots of big corporations have their nominal headquarters there if you believe a brass plate on a lawyer's restroom wall is a headquarters. There are no bars to Manxmen moving here to live but they are a lot more picky about who they let in there. They like to see a large bank account and they don't ask where you got it. There's not a lot of new genes entering the pool each year if you get my drift. They were the last place in Western Europe to abolish corporal punishment - they were still administering the birch until the 70s/80s (jb will need to fill you in on the dates).
I've got a cousin who moved there about 25 years or more ago when he married a local girl. Went weird from Day One.
On the other hand they have the greatest motor-cycle race meeting in the history of the universe there every year and on one Sunday in the middle of the two week meet they suspend the traffic laws and let everybody race at 180mph around the public roads. So they're not all bad.
So basically the Isle Of Man is like our version of Deliverance but with faster bikes and way more money. Explaining why our beloved jb is into rockabilly and ukes and manages to total his car while driving stone cold sober on an empty road. And works in finance. Do any of you Jersey guys have any money you would like cleaning?

According to the Wikepedia:

Isle of Man

"Wither thou throw it, it will stand."

I think its an island hideout for Dr. Evil!
