Well ... it's confession time. I practically swore I was going to get rid of all my non-Ovations and be a strictly O-Man. But after frantically looking to upgrade my Celebrity Deluxe Bass with an American-made model, I found it very difficult to find one that met my needs unplugged. Kim Keller had the one I REALLY wanted, and I became aware I was coveting that way too much. I couldn't afford to buy a special order deep bowl like I need to get an acceptable unplugged volume (for playing with other acoustic instruments in the park). SO ... I just ordered a 5-string fretless Tacoma Thunderchief. It's American made, solid top sides and back, a HUGE body with the tuned offset soundhole, and A lifetime transferable warranty. If Ovation had a bass that had this booming sound in an affordable price range, I would have bought it from them. THERE! I said it! and I now I feel better about it!

Enjoy it while you can....

Hell has it's own little place for the likes of you...

one room away from the Uke players and the floor above Banjo players.

The Taylor room is down the hall.

Just joking, it's perfectly OK to play non-Ovations. They do things an O can't. Just keep in mind the things that an O can do that others can't and you'll be alright.

Well I DID sell off the Fender Jazz Bass to get this one. So TECHNICALLY I haven't really aquired an additional non-Ovation, just swapped one out.

yeah, a little sin, don't hurt anybody, I fool around with a Cort bass w/bartolinni lisc elect.from time to time. If Victor Wooten's doin'it, it can't be that bad.

If I could play one tenth as good as Wooten I wouldn't really have to be concerned about the cost of an instrument.

I'm guilty of owning a few "Other" instruments as well...

Professionally I play far more electric than acoustic, and my guitar of choice is 99% Telecaster (I have three). I'm also guilty of owning a Stratocaster (that never gets played), a "Carera" electric bass that set me back a whole $60, a 34 Martin 0-17 that's pretty beat up yet playable, and a banjo with no name on it. I think I've covered them all.

Someday, when I can swing it, there's yet another Ovation on the horizon, just waiting for me. It will be a deep bowl, post 1980, A braced top, of the Balladeer/Legend variety with electronics. Currently my only Ovation with electronics is my CS257, and I really NEED a good, MIA, deep bowl acoustic/electric.

The disease begins with an "O", but has many faces...

Totally understandable, Vince. I just traded out my 1778T that I never play anymore for a Tacoma Roadking dreadnought with the offset soundhole. Something totally different. I'm also looking down the road to pick up a nice Ibanez archtop again.

Variety is the spice of life!

I could go for an Ibanez archtop myself, they look cool, reasonably priced new, even better to get a nice one off ebay for a song.
