Hell I do it here on this board all the time. If he doesn't like the color red, and you walk in with a red strat, he's likely to say "that's one ugly f*cking guitar". Take it for what it's worth. But when someone is in business, it isn't very wise to exercise it so blantantly as to offend your customers. Personally, if I walked into a shop and the guy badmouthed my guitar like that, I'd turn around and walk out. Nobody is so good that they can afford to insult people. The same goes with the lack of professionalism displayed when he uses profanity like that. There's a guy who works in a local guitar shop here who had a problem with his mouth like that. Everyone in town referred to him as "potty-mouth". They get very little business now, and I doubt if they'll stay in business as long as he works there..

I always gave him a lot of credit for that . . . (btw: There are "potty mouths", and there are those that utilize the sheer linguistical artistry of vulgarity when the need arises to prove a particular point . . . I for one, am a card-carrying Vulgarian).

It's kinda like dropping ebonics, now that I don't live in a getto.

It takes a lot more effort to put together a thought or express an opinion with our language than simply dropping the f bomb or bomb of the moment. There is no artistry in vulgarity. As far as the guitar tech in question; folks who behave like that no matter what they do to earn money will get the work and rewards they deserve. Let him go his way and pick only the fights he can win. Guys like that keep the rest of us in business. Can't speak for anyone else, but my whole professional life has been about serving and pleasing as many customers as possible in as professional manner as possible. You can't please 'em all, but you can please most of 'em or at the very least, try. After all, they are paying you for a good or service. No problem being kind to everybody; you never have to feel bad (about being mean to someone) if you treated them well. Oh, and by the way, what does it matter what kind of guitar bears the strings that Glen Campbell plays? It's great that he is still playing no matter what guitar he plays. Go Glen. Keep playin'. I can't wait to hear and see him in Vegas later on this year. And it absolutely won't matter what kind of guitar he uses.

If I won the lottery, there'd be a whole lot more than Ovations in my collection... Santa Cruz, Olson, Collings, etc. I suspect tho' that there probably wouldn't be any Taylors. Maybe one or two Martins.....
